Position Summary:
The primary purpose of this job is to Consult, Design, Repair, Manufacture and Maintain Research equipment for the Physics Department. In addition, fabricate precision scientific instrumentation. Instruct students and faculty on the principles of machining and the use of hand tools. Operate and maintain the Physics Machine Shop.
Minimum Qualifications:
-
High School Diploma or Equivalent
- 5 years working in a machine shop
- Supervisory experience or providing instruction, participating in or leading a team, or delegating duties and responsibilities to others
- Welding vacuum systems
Preferred Qualifications:
- Experience working with exotic materials.
- Knowledge of metallurgy, plastics, ceramics, general material science, fluid dynamics, physics, chemistry, electrical, chemical, and mechanical engineering as related to scientific instrumentation.
