Scrum Master coordinates a cross-functional Agile development team utilizing the principles and tools of the Scrum Framework. Assumes a servant leadership role to support a self-organized team to complete Scrum projects. Being a Scrum Master identifies and removes impediments to progress. Facilitates sprint planning meetings, daily stand-ups, sprint reviews, demos, and retrospectives. Additionally, Scrum Master identifies and manages the backlog. Supports, coaches and mentors team members. Tracks daily sprint progress and maintain schedules. Requires a bachelor's degree. Typically requires Certified Scrum Master (CSM). Typically reports to a director. The Scrum Master occasionally directed in several aspects of the work. Gaining exposure to some of the complex tasks within the job function. Responsibilities
By the end of your first month, you will be expected to have developed a deep understanding of your team’s core products, be able to identify and remove impediments to the team’s progress, have led your team through a complete sprint cycle, and have completed comprehensive 1:1 meetings with team members to foster engagement and identify individual needs and communication styles.
By 60 days, you’ll be equipped and able to manage conflict resolution and facilitated discussions, implement a data-drive approach to track team improvement metrics, drive continuous improvement initiatives through focused retrospective activities, and work with your team to update their working together agreement.
After your first three months as a Scrum Master at Cogency, we expect you’ll have developed a solid understanding of all our services and products (not just your team’s) and have worked with your team to identify, implement, and measure improvement opportunities.
