Sheetmetal Mechanic sets up and operates machines such as drill presses, punch presses, saws, shears, bending rolls, brakes, grinders, and numerical control equipment to shape and alter sheetmetal according to specifications. Follows blueprints, rough sketches, or engineer drawings to shape metal accurately. Being a Sheetmetal Mechanic uses hand and power tools to shape, cut, and smooth metal and to blend seams. May set up and operate soldering and welding equipment. Additionally, Sheetmetal Mechanic typically requires a high school diploma. Typically requires a Sheetmetal Apprenticeship. Typically reports to a supervisor or manager. The Sheetmetal Mechanic works under the close direction of senior personnel in the functional area. We perform Pre-employment Drug Screens including marijuana, Physical Abilities Testing and Criminal Background checks.
Must have the ability to work any shifts and any days.- We operate 24 hours a day, 5 days a week.
- This includes rotating shifts
- Troubleshoot and repair mobile equipment.
- Perform scheduled maintenance.
- Assist mill maintenance as needed.
- Ensure accurate diagnosis of mechanical problems.
- Maintain operating availability of equipment.
- Provide cost effective solutions to mechanical problems.
- Work under general supervision and make decisions under set guidelines and strict safety rules.
- You must have a current CDL with doubles, tanker
- Pay attention to detail
- Be deadline-oriented
- Have the ability to work in a fast-paced production environment.
- Be able to work with minimal supervision
