Shipping and Receiving Supervisor supervises workers who confirm and record the receipt of shipments, prepare items for shipping, and load and unload trucks. Also responsible for managing the inter-departmental transport of materials. Shipping and Receiving Supervisor, a level I supervisor is considered a working supervisor with little authority for personnel actions. May require a bachelor's degree in area of specialty. Additionally, Shipping and Receiving Supervisor typically reports to a manager or head of a unit/department. Working team member that may validate or coordinate the work of others on a support team. Summary: Primarily responsible for receiving in material needed for production and for shipping out material for outside processing or final delivery to the customer in a high pace/multi-tasking environment. Make deliveries to other local facility.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities include the following. Other duties may be assigned.
· Support the shipment of goods produced and the received goods and supplies to be used in or to aid in the production/storage of goods destined for sale to our customer base.
· Examine contents and compare with records such as purchase orders and packing lists to verify accuracy of incoming or outgoing shipment.
· Responsible to make arrangements for pick-up by the carrier specified on the customer’s purchase order which is conveyed through internal ERP system.
· Enter shipments into various customer portals.
· Responsible for keeping an adequate supply of shipping materials on hand at all times.
· Maintain the work area and equipment in a clean and orderly condition and follow prescribed safety regulations.
· Must have a valid driver’s license and a good driving recorded.
Qualifications and Skills include the following. Others may be assigned.
· Be familiar with and able to interpret packing slips, enter into the computer the correct information, to acknowledge receipt of the goods into the purchase order and processing database.
· Must be able to fill out bills of lading and be familiar with various forms that are used and required by the major freight carriers.
· Must be capable of estimating weight and use that information to calculate the cost of shipping.
· Positive attitude, self-motivated team player with good work ethics.
Education and Experience
GED or equivalent.
Two years experience preferred
Must have computer experience preferable in an ERP system and able to utilize UPS, FedEx and other freight carriers’ systems.
Proficient in Microsoft office (excel, work, power point).
Physical Demands
Required to lift up to 50 lbs on a regular basis. Required to drive company vehicle. Regularly required to stand, bend, reach and move about the facility.
