Soil Scientist studies, investigates, and conducts experiments on different soil/plant types to determine use capabilities of soils, and effects of alternative practices on soil productivity. Applies a wide range concepts, practices, and procedures from two or more specialized fields of science, such as agronomy, soil science, forestry, or agriculture. Being a Soil Scientist may require a bachelor's degree in agricultural sciences or a related field with at least 5 years of work experience. May direct the work of a small group of employees. Additionally, Soil Scientist relies on experience and judgment to plan and accomplish goals. Typically reports to a senior manager and may be considered the lead for a specific area or unit. In this role, you will be responsible for conducting in-vitro experiments for studies of liver and colorectal cancer, collaborating closely with the Immuno-Oncology team.
As a Scientist, a Typical Day May Include- Organizing the study, implanting tumors, dosing the animals, and measuring tumor growth
- Using a variety of assays including flow cytometry, Western blot, IHC, RNAscope, immunofluorescence, etc.
- Troubleshooting and adapting the experimental design based on emerging data
- Maintaining mammalian cell lines and 3D cell culture
- You have excellent oral and written communication skills
- You are a strong team member with a demonstrated ability to work independently to optimize experiments, interpret data, troubleshoot, and suggest next steps
- You have excellent attention to detail and can be flexible with changing priorities
