Job Description: -

We are looking to hire a Metal Fabricator/Installer with experience working in Metallurgy, Physics, Strength of Materials and Fabrication experience. The ideal candidate will possess a wide range of technical metal working skills, including but not limited to: Design, MIG welding, bending, tempering, precision cutting/manufacturing, roll forming, die punching, etc. This role provides a creative, design focused process in which the candidate may contribute to the improvement of design strength and longevity while minimizing manufacturing costs. This position will require a candidate who is well organized and highly attentive to detail. The scale of size for racking components ranges greatly, therefore precision is of the utmost importance. The qualified candidate must be able to produce components based off of detailed prints with a high level of accuracy. Additionally, the ideal candidate will review designs and provide technical expertise on manufacturing methods which may contribute to efficiency and reduction of cost.

Roles and Responsibilities: -

• This position is Outdoor and indoor. You MUST be comfortable working in all the weather elements
• Comply with all OSHA, job site and construction safety procedures
• Create metal parts based on verbal and/or written instruction. Must be able to read and understand prints.
• Strong understanding of tool safety when working with metal
• Daily repair of any found issues including documentation of completed work
• Assist during construction of parts and assembly and other experiments after daily tasks are complete
• Strong knowledge of welding, bending and metal fabrication practices including but not limited to Galvanized steel, stainless steel, bronze, aluminum, and alloys
• Willing to teach others, share skills and experiences to better and further the team’s development.
• Flexible, open to new ideas and able to adjust to adversities.
• Comfortable working in a fast paced environment with rapid turnover of objectives
• Assist in generation of new ideas to resolve problems with original design
• Assist with product evolution to reduce cost, increase construction efficiency, and reduce field install time on large scale projects
• Assist management to complete task assignments in a timely manner, and request resources as needed
• Tasks may include travel to other sites within driving distance with management or on own as needed
• Maintain a clean work environment
• PPE is required on site

Required Skills and Education: -

• Degree in manufacturing/steel construction discipline or equivalent experience
• High level of competency working with power and/or manufacturing tools
• Massachusetts Hoisting Engineer 1C, 2A licensure preferred
• Attitude and aptitude of a team player who will support other team members when needed
• Ability to read and understand prints
• Excellent verbal and written communication skills
• Excellent problem solving, critical thinking skills and ability to work independently
• High level of integrity with strong emphasis on making and meeting commitments
• High sense of urgency with the ability to prioritize to meet required deadlines
• Some construction, solar and knowledge of key trades and tools required
• General computer software skills: Microsoft Office applications
• Must have a clean, valid US Drivers License.
• Must be able to lift 50 lbs.
• OSHA 10 certification
