    Role Description

The LVT Learning & Enablement team is looking to add a skilled and experienced tech writer to contribute to the documentation needs of our products. As an LVT technical writer, you would not just be the creator and eternal maintainer of technical documentation for software and hardware components—you would be considered a “product owner” over the documentation of your assigned products.

If you think this is you, keep reading.

    Responsibilities:

    • You seek out new ways to write about your products.
    • You consistently stay apprised of upcoming releases dealing with your product and seemingly insignificant scuttlebutt and watercooler talk wherein your product may be mentioned.
    • You are three parts sleuth, two parts writer, two parts whistleblower.
    • Nothing that touches your products gets past you because you are in every sprint review meeting. You walk the factory floor of our fabrication and assembly plants looking for gaps in your documentation portfolio.
    • You are a naturally curious person whose hunger for detailed information about your products is insatiable.
    • You go to sleep wondering about where the metal for our Live Unit’s screws are sourced from and how that differs from other sources.
    • You argue with software developers about the definition of “a very minor release” because you know what is minor to them is huge for our customers.

    Required Skills & Qualifications:

    • Most importantly you have experience being employed previously as a software or hardware technical writer at a fast-growing company
    • You have a demonstrable portfolio of content and projects you can share
    • You have an intermediate level of experience with structured authoring in a CCMS such as Paligo, Arbortext, Madcap Flare, or Xyleme
    • You have an intermediate level of experience producing content for product adoption platforms such as WalkMe or Pendo
    • You have experience creating and managing API documentation
    • You may have experience with hardware writing and all that comes with it: CAD, JBSs, ECOs, etc.
    • You may have experience with XML, HTML, and CSS
    • You have worked in a less structured environment in which you have been responsible for your own actions and you have not been given a detailed SOP to follow. In other words, you have proven that you can thrive in ambiguity
    • You have strong skills in stakeholder management and verbal communication
    • You thrive knowing the end result that is desired, and then you use your experience and skills to create your own path to accomplish that end

    The Things You Can’t Teach:

    • You prefer to manage your time yourself. You loathe micromanagers, but it's not because you don’t want someone hovering over you all day. It is because you thrive better setting your own aggressive goals and timelines
    • You’re the type of employee who sees what needs to be done and then develops a plan to do it. Sometimes permission is needed, sometimes it's not. You’ll figure it out. You have the confidence to start something without having to constantly get pre-approval from a manager but you have the common sense to know when you need to ask a question
    • You don’t need to be externally motivated to succeed. That desire has always come naturally to you and you couldn’t extinguish it if you tried
    • You don’t compare yourself to the people around you because you know that you have a standard you need to meet and that has nothing to do with anyone else
    • When someone tells you to improve in an area of your work or life, you listen. Yeah, maybe it's a hit to your pride but you have the insight to be able to see that the person telling you to improve actually has more respect for you and cares more about your success than someone who just lies to you and tells you you’re perfect
    • You hate gossip. You realize that there is nothing good that comes from whispering something about someone to someone else. You’ve trained yourself to bite your tongue, think about how the person would feel if they were listening, and choose to build a better workplace rather than tear it all down
    • You leave work at work and leave home at home. You know that if you work all night and your partner has to watch Netflix by themselves again you won’t be at 100% the next day at work. You may even start resenting your work. Or worse, your partner! You know that mental health, work-life balance, and quality of life are the only things that can ensure that you can keep performing at work. We want the best you, the best of you, and the best for you!
    • Lastly, you’re honest. And kind. You genuinely care about others. You want to contribute and not just take. You want to listen and not just talk. You know your value and you want to help others to discover theirs

    Benefits

Flexible Time Off, Paid Holidays, 401(K), Equity, Health, Vision, Dental, Voluntary Life Insurance, Wellness Program and best of all working with awesome people - ask about that when you speak with us!
