Speech and Language Pathologist jobs in Altoona, PA

Speech and Language Pathologist assesses and treats speech and language disorders and impairments. Conducts evaluations of an individual's speech and language skills using applicable diagnostic materials and tools. Being a Speech and Language Pathologist develops treatment plans that utilize appropriate intervention approaches, strategies, and materials. Establishes treatment priorities that include advising, educating, and counseling. Additionally, Speech and Language Pathologist completes required documentation to record assessment and progress. Collaborates with physicians, family members, and other clinical providers to provide effective therapies. May direct support staff in assisting with treatment. Requires a master's degree in speech pathology. Requires Certificate of Clinical Competence in Speech-Language Pathology (CCC-SLP). Requires State License based on Clinical Specialty. Typically reports to a manager. Speech and Language Pathologist's years of experience requirement may be unspecified.     The ideal candidate will conduct assessments to evaluate student's speech, language, and communication abilities, develop and implement individualized treatment plans based on assessment findings, and provide therapy services to students individually and in group settings.  This position also involves collaborating with teachers, parents, and other school staff to support students' communication needs, monitoring student's progress, and adjusting treatment plans as necessary.  The candidate will also maintain accurate and up-to-date records of therapy sessions and progress reports.


    Requirements:
    • Master's degree Speech-Language Pathology 
    • Certificate of Clinical Competence (CCC-SLP) from the American Speech-Language-Hearing Association (ASHA)
    • State license or eligibility for licensure as a Speech-Language Pathologist
    • Experience working with children and adolescents in a school setting
    • Strong communication and interpersonal skills
    • Ability to work effectively as part of a multidisciplinary team
