Speech and Language Pathologist - Nursing Home assesses and treats speech and language disorders and impairments in a nursing home or long term care setting. Conducts patient evaluation of speech and language skills using applicable diagnostic materials and tools. Being a Speech and Language Pathologist - Nursing Home develops treatment plans that utilize appropriate intervention approaches, strategies, and materials. Establishes treatment priorities that include advising, educating and counseling the patient. Additionally, Speech and Language Pathologist - Nursing Home documents assessment and patient progress. Collaborates with physicians, family members, and other clinical providers. May direct support staff in assisting with treatment. Ensures that treatment aligns with patient needs and is within the parameters set by the payer. Requires a master's degree in speech pathology or equivalent. Requires Certificate of Clinical Competence in Speech-Language Pathology (CCC-SLP) and may require a state license. Typically reports to a manager or head of a unit/department. Speech and Language Pathologist - Nursing Home's years of experience requirement may be unspecified. Certification and/or licensing in the position's specialty is the main requirement.     Position Description

     

     

    POSITION TITLE:          Speech and Language Pathologist

     

    FLSA:                             Exempt

     

    QUALIFICATIONS:        Must hold proper state certification

     

    REPORTS TO:              Principal and/or other Supervisor

     

    TERMS OF EMPLOYMENT:   180 days with benefits provided according to the Teacher’s Negotiated Agreement.

     

                                

    ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS:

    1. Perform speech and language services

    2. Implement a variety of effective instructional strategies consistent with lesson objectives.

    3. Diagnose and evaluates student abilities and progress in a timely and consistent manner.

    4. Monitor student progress and adjust instruction accordingly.

    5. Plan a program of study that meets the individual needs, interests, and abilities of the students.

    6. Effectively collaborate with department and grade level teachers.

    OTHER JOB FUNCTIONS:   

    1. Abide by state statutes, school board policies and regulations.
    2. Attend meetings and performs duties as assigned by administrators or supervisors.
    3. Take all necessary and reasonable precautions to protect students, equipment, materials, and facilities.
    4. Maintain accurate, complete, and correct records as required by law, district policy and administrative regulation.
    5. Serve on committees as assigned.
    6. Remain current on instructional practices in education.  (e.g. instructional technology)
