Manager of Bio Clinical Statistics - AZ - Office of Research and Sponsored Programs

    The Manager of BioClinical Statistics contributes to two different areas. In the Office of Research and Sponsored Programs (ORSP), this individual provides statistical leadership, direction, and consulting to assist faculty, staff, students and residents in the research design, data analysis, interpretation, and reporting for research within all colleges of Midwestern University on the Glendale and Downers Grove campuses. This individual also supports the College of Graduate Studies, with designing and teaching the two core Biostatistics classes within MWU’s Master of Public Health (MPH) dual degree program. This includes updating the course material, facilitating the course, grading, and providing feedback to students. This position reports to the Associate Director of ORSP.

    Essential Responsibilities       

    • Conduct collaborative statistical analysis for biomedical and clinical research projects with faculty/staff, residents, and students within all colleges of Midwestern University (MWU) and the MWU Osteopathic Postdoctoral Training Institute (OPTI).
    • Prepare analysis reports involving tables, figures, and interpretations of results for researchers.
    • Supervise the Statistical Analyst(s) including hiring and performance.
    • Meet with researchers to effectively communicate the results of the analysis. Assist researchers with developing an understanding and correct interpretation of the analysis and discuss additional analysis if needed.
    • Assist researchers with manuscript preparation, including writing statistical analysis sections, results sections, and producing publication ready tables and figures using statistical tools for reproducible research.
    • Review and assist with writing the analysis plans and statistical sampling plans for clinical protocols and research project proposals (including NIH and NSF grant proposals).
    • Perform power analyses for researchers justifying the sample size for Institutional Review Board and Institutional Animal Care and Use Committee applications.
    • Answer statistical questions regarding appropriate methodology or software use as the team lead for the statistical support services for all researchers.
    • Create, edit, and maintain relevant course content (lectures/HW/project/exams) for Quantitative Research Methods, Biostatistics, and other statistical analysis courses in the Master of Public Health (MPH) program.
    • Provide feedback and grade assignments for students enrolled in Quantitative Research Methods, Biostatistics, and other courses from older curriculums as needed in the MPH program.
    • Create and give lectures or seminars regarding statistical methodology and best practices to faculty, staff, students, or residents as requested.
    • This position will require travel to the Downers Grove, IL campus.

    Qualifications

    Education and/or Experience      

    Master’s degree from an accredited college or university in Biostatistics or a related field. A Doctoral degree (Ph.D.) in a related field is preferred. A minimum of 3-5 years of experience as a biostatistician consultant or statistical analyst is required. At least 1-2 years of experience teaching biostatistics or statistics at a collegiate level preferred. 1-3 years of experience managing other biostatisticians/statistical analysts and project load is also preferred.

    Computer Skills                                               

    Computer proficiency in MS Office (Word, Excel, Outlook) required. Experience utilizing Statistical Analysis Software (R, SPSS, or SAS) required. Experienced use of G*Power and learning management software systems (i.e., CANVAS), and SAS OnDemand for Academics desired.
