    SUMMARY

    Position requires current enrollment in, or recent graduation from, an accredited degree program in finance, accounting, business administration, recreation management or related field. Position is responsible for a variety of functions within the accounting department. Primary responsibilities will be in the areas of financial analysis, financial reporting, and internal control testing and documentation; as well as updating, maintaining, and documenting financial information in the company’s General Ledger. This position will also require the preparation of financial spreadsheets and reports as well as Accounts Payable, Accounts Receivable, and Credit Card Receivable processing. As a customer focused organization, a crucial part of each employee’s job is to get and keep guests.

    ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES include the following. Other duties may be assigned.

    1. Preparation and entry of journal entries.
    2. Responsible for daily point of sales (POS) close outs and audits, including tracking over shorts, ensuring that cashiers follow adopted POS policies and procedures, daily journal entries, and investigating and resolving errors, variances and other discrepancies.
    3. Assist with the preparation, compilation, distribution, and analysis of daily, weekly, monthly, and quarterly financial reports.
    4. Update daily sales and labor reports and distribute internally.
    5. Monitor daily cash (where applicable) and credit card deposits for accuracy and investigate and/or resolve discrepancies in a timely manner.
    6. Administer Sierra credit card receivable process in accordance with adopted procedures. Specifically, monitoring daily cash (where applicable) and credit card deposits for accuracy as well as overseeing credit card dispute tracking and response program and ensuring supporting documentation is submitted within the deadline established by the credit card processing company. Track status of current and closed credit card disputes within a shared workbook to communicate to Accounting Manager and Controller.
    7. Assist with the completion of daily, weekly and monthly bank reconciliations.
    8. Assist with internal control testing and documentation.
    9. Administering Sierra’s accounts payable disbursement process in accordance with adopted accounting policies and procedures.
    10. Administering Sierra’s accounts receivable process in accordance with adopted accounting policies and procedures.
    11. Work with Accounting Manager on special projects, including regulatory requirements for financial reporting.
    12. Keep up to date with Sage Intacct software upgrades.
    13. Ability to maintain confidentiality of sensitive and proprietary information.
    14. Ability to perform all work tasks with the highest standards of honesty and integrity.
    15. Ability to complete work tasks in accordance with established deadlines.
    16. Job sharing in other departments throughout the resort is required of all our positions.

    6. Drive in accordance with the law and Sierra-at-Tahoe Resort policies.

    QUALIFICATIONS

    EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE

    Bachelor’s degree (B.A.) from a four-year college or university with a concentration in accounting or finance; or one or two years related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.

    LANGUAGE SKILLS

    Ability to read, analyze, and general business periodicals, professional journals, technical procedures, or governmental regulations. Ability to write reports, business correspondence, and procedure manuals. Ability to effectively present information and respond to questions from groups of managers, clients, customers, and the general public.

    MATHEMATICAL SKILLS

    Ability to work with mathematical concepts such as probability and statistical inference, and fundamentals of plane and solid geometry and trigonometry. Ability to apply concepts such as fractions, percentages, ratios, and proportions to practical situations.

    REASONING ABILITY

    Ability to define problems, collect data, establish facts, and draw valid conclusions. Ability to interpret an extensive variety of technical instructions in mathematical or diagram form and deal with several abstract and concrete variables.
