Based in the Las Cruces, New Mexico area, this exciting long-term contract / temporary to hire opportunity is set in an engaging work place where hard work is rewarded. In this role, the Staff Accountant is in charge of preparing monthly and year-end closings, journal entries, fixed asset maintenance, bank reconciliation, and general ledger reconciliation. A very involved position, this role produces Financial Statements, Cash Flow projections, and Budgets. You will also be in charge of many aspects of internal reporting during the monthly close. In addition, your responsibilities include communicating with our external auditors for quarterly reviews and annual audits, playing an active role in compliance, and reviewing schedules for the reporting processes.Your responsibilities in this role- Maintain intricate journal entries and account reconciliations including but not limited to cash, prepaid expenses and payroll- Aid in implementation, maintenance and adherence to internal controls and accounting procedures ensuring compliance with GAAP- Create monthly statement analysis to be used for management reportings- Conduct month end close, journal entries, without supervision- Organize capital lease and monthly payment schedules- Offer succinct analysis on a wide variety of financial data and communicate it in a clear and concise manner- Assist in the month end, quarter end and year end closing process including monthly financial close workbook preparation- Support fixed asset ledger, depreciation, and reconciliation- Ad-hoc tasks and special projects, as needed- Be a part of various initiatives spanning multiple departments
