Staff Nurse - RN - Occupational Health provides professional nursing care to on-site employees. Treats occupational injuries and illnesses, referring patients to emergency care facilities or outside medical resources as needed. Being a Staff Nurse - RN - Occupational Health performs pre-employment physical examinations, including vision and hearing screenings, blood work, and other related tests. Maintains employee medical records and ensures that record-keeping procedures comply with legal and confidentiality requirements. Additionally, Staff Nurse - RN - Occupational Health may be responsible for administering flu vaccination, workers' compensation, disability, and/or employee health and safety training programs. Typically requires a bachelor's degree in nursing or equivalent. Requires a Registered Nurse (RN) license. Typically reports to a manager or head of a unit/department. The Staff Nurse - RN - Occupational Health work is generally independent and collaborative in nature. Contributes to moderately complex aspects of a project.   • An opportunity has arisen to recruit into this Band 5 position, working within a busy Occupational Health & Safety Department, which provides services to NHS D&G, Primary and Secondary care, our working partners, and a wide range of external Businesses.

    The post holder will join a successful and experienced Occupational Health & Safety Service team, which offers the potential for further career development in this specialised field of nursing.

    The team currently includes 9 nurses and 1 Technician of various bandings, an Occupational Therapist, 5 Health & Safety Specialists and an Administrative team, each member is crucial to the daily provision of a safe effective and quality OH service.

    There will be training and development opportunities tailored to the individual needs of the successful candidate and, in conjunction with the needs of the service.

    This role involves frequent driving, travelling to various regional clinics, and further afield to both NHS and external business settings.

    You must be able to work autonomously, travel independently, and be flexible to the needs of the service and team.

    The work hours are usually 8.30 am to 4.30 pm Monday through Friday, but depending on service and business demand, earlier starts and later finishes as required. Occasional overnight stays and significant travel may also be required.

    NHS Scotland is reducing their full-time working week from 37.5 to 37 hours per week for NHS Agenda for Change workers in Scotland from 1 April 2024 but with no change in pay. This reduction will also be applied pro rata for part time staff. This advert and any subsequent offer/contract of employment therefore reflects the new working hours. However, as not all service areas will be able to adopt the 37 hour working week immediately from 1 April 2024, you may be required to work up to an additional 30 minutes per week for a temporary period, for which you would be paid, until the service you are working in changes rosters or working patterns to accommodate the new reduced working week.
