The Position
Statisticians gather statistical and other data and perform routine analysis and computations; compile reports and prepare charts, graphs, maps and diagrams to display the data and analysis.
Incumbents perform in a trainee capacity and acquire the knowledge, skills and abilities required in this occupation.
The Research & Analysis Bureau is the state's labor market information office, participating with the U.S. Bureau of Labor Statistics to produce detailed data about Nevada's workforce as the primary source of labor market data in the state. This position is in the Quarterly Census of Employment and Wages (QCEW) unit. This recruitment is an underfill for a Statistician 2 position and is responsible for assigning industry classification codes to Nevada employer worksites. This includes reviewing information submitted by employers, researching employer business activities, and contacting employers over both phone and e-mail with additional questions. Once trained, incumbents will be expected to assign codes to approximately 100 employer accounts per week with a high degree of accuracy. To Qualify:
In order to be qualified, you must meet the following requirements:
Education and Experience (Minimum Qualifications)
Associate's degree from an accredited college or university with major coursework in economics, mathematics, statistics or closely related field and two years of experience assisting in the preparation, collection and analysis of data; and preparing visual displays using computer software; OR graduation from high school or equivalent education and three years of experience as described above; OR an equivalent combination of education and experience as described above.
A pre-employment criminal history check and fingerprinting are required. Persons offered employment in this position will be required to pay for these items.
