Shore Outpatient Surgicenter has an immediate need for a full time Receptionist/Medical Records Clerk!
Work schedule: Monday - Friday 9:30am to 6:00pm
Job Summary: The Receptionist/Medical Records Clerk interfaces with patients and families, physicians, vendors and staff. Admit patients and process their paperwork; Update patient demographics/information in system; Collect balances due and document in the billing system; Handle funds per office procedure. Answer incoming phone calls. Assist with chart prep and other business office duties necessary. Must be reliable, dedicated, personable, professional and have a strong attention to detail.
Other duties may be assigned:
· Audit medical records for accuracy and completion.
· Filing and maintenance of documents in the medical record, paper and in electronic storage.
· Assist clinical team in ensuring all charts are completed by nursing staff and physicians.
· Pull charts daily for physicians and anesthesiologist that will be present at the center for that day. Post a reminder notice for those doctors whose charts need to be completed.
· Send delinquent chart notification to Medical Staff.
· Pick up charts daily for return to the medical records area.
· Review, correct, print, and file all operative reports daily.
· Receives and copies requests for medical records.
· Reviews medical records for final audit.
· Provide relief for front business office functions.
· Cross-trained to fill in and effectively perform all other business office job related functions.
· Serves as a resource to other staff members.
· Attends required in-services, conferences and meetings as required.
· Communicates effectively and courteously with visitors, physicians, and their office staffs, patients, and employees. Maintain patient, physician, and employee privacy and confidentiality per policy.
· Maintains designated certifications such as CPR, as offered by the center.
· Acts in accordance with the vision, mission, and business philosophy of the Center.
· Complies with Policies and Procedures and adheres to safety guidelines to ensure a safe work and patient care environment.
