Position Overview
Student Information Systems (SIS) at the University of Kansas brings functional and technical staff together to administer and maintain the applications and systems that manage student data at the University of Kansas. The team is responsible for application maintenance to oversee the application configurations, data quality, security, change control, and overall health of the systems and data.
The position of Functional Systems Analyst within SIS will be responsible for helping implement a new application for degree planning, scheduling, and audit at University of Kansas for undergraduate and graduate programs. The position will be responsible for overseeing the implementation of the tool. This position will work closely with other stakeholders and units at the University of Kansas to gather requirements for the functional set up. This position will also work with stakeholders and end-users to analyze the business practices and determine the best way to meet University goals through the best use of the system.
This position will serve as the subject matter expert for the new application to ensure an optimal student user experience. The position will also be ensuring good documentation standards. This position is responsible for developing and providing training for the use of this new application for campus users. Additionally, the position will oversee testing and other processes are complaint with academic policy and compliance standards.
The successful candidate will be sensitive to deadlines and related project plans and have strong written and verbal communication skills in documentation as well as being able to engage with the client/customer.

Job Description
Application Maintenance and Support (50%)-
Provide subject matter expertise.

Ensure the workflows and processes are in accordance with requirements.

Onboards new users and utilizes a train-the-trainer approach with user groups.

Document the security policies and settings and maintain the system documentation.

Document and analyze problems.
-
Maintain current knowledge of relevant business processes.
-
Works directly with vendor representatives and supports product enhancements and data validation.

Responds to support tickets from users.
Testing and Validation (30%)-
Work closely with stakeholders to debug and troubleshoot problems.

Test system upgrades and patches.
-
Responsible for set up and test scenarios on the training site.
Reports (10%)-
Create and maintain ad hoc reports as required.

Provide usage data and other key metrics to departments and units for student retention initiatives, staff development, and other quality improvement efforts.
Other projects as assigned (10%)
Required Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree and 1 year of relevant professional experience.

Experience working in higher education setting.

Excellent verbal and written communication skills as evidenced by application materials.

Strong analytical and organizational skills, detail orientation, and interpersonal skills as evidenced by application materials and demonstrated in the interview process.

Demonstrated familiarity with policies and processes in higher education (FERPA, accessibility etc.)
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience with Peoplesoft enterprise systems.

Demonstrated experience with relevant student success management systems or student degree planning systems (Stellic, Degree Works, Starfish, EAB, Civitas etc.)

Exceptional time management skills, including the ability to adapt quickly to shifting priorities.

Demonstrable troubleshooting skills.

Ability to work independently and in team-based environments.
