    Job Summary:

    The Director of Development reports to the Vice President of Student Affairs and has responsibility for planning organizing, developing, supervising, and coordinating the overall program of counseling, testing, and disability accommodations.

    Supervisory Responsibilities:

    • None

    Duties/Responsibilities:

    • Provides counseling and assessment to students with academic, social, economic, and personal problems and makes referrals as needed.
    • Plans, organizes, develops, and evaluates program activities that assist students in career planning, explorations, and graduate school placement; and issues related to developmental needs of students.
    • Coordinates patient navigation for off-campus medical referrals.
    • Research student health and wellness best practices and trends for incorporation into student development programming.
    • Coordinates and provides crisis intervention (e.g. suicide, sexual assault, physical assault, death/dying) service.
    • Oversees student academic disability accommodations process, including working with faculty to ensure students receive the proper accommodations.
    • Serves as a member of the College’s Crisis Management Team and coordinates the ad hoc Crisis Counseling Team.
    • Develops and implements workshops (e.g. violence issues, conflict resolution, sexuality challenges, homophobia, alcohol and drug use prevention, body positivity, emotional intelligence, etc.)
    • Coordinates services for students with disabilities and maintains appropriate documentation and record keeping.
    • Manages budget for the Student Development Office.
    • Collaborates with College units and external providers in the development and implementation of programs and services for non-traditional and high-risk students.
    • Collaborates with College units in the collection and analysis of data related to student and family demographics, student needs, and characteristics of Stillman’s first-generation college students.
    • Researches and prepares drafts of policy statements and procedures related to student development, risk management, and medical issues.
    • Collects and compiles data regarding student development and health services for institutional effectiveness.
    • Research and prepare grant proposals specific to student development needs and support.
    • Ability to collaborate with College units and external constituents in the development of programs, partnerships, and activities.

    Education and Experience:

    • Master of Science or Master of Art in counseling and/or psychology or Student Affairs with a concentration area in counseling. A license in professional counseling is preferred.
    • At least three years of experience with a college counseling center or similar environment, including working with testing, disability issues, sexuality and gender identity, conflict resolution, crisis intervention, and wellness programming.
    • Experience in grant proposal writing and grant administration.
    • Supervised practicum in a counseling or student affairs facility.
    • Knowledge of student development theories and best practices.
    • Experience as a facilitator and experience in the research and development of institutional procedures related to student development, disability accommodations, and counseling issues.

    Physical Requirements:

    • Prolonged periods of sitting at a desk and working on a computer.
    • Must be able to lift up to 15 pounds at times.
