Job Summary:
Responsible for assisting in the supply management and daily availability of commodity and implant supplies for assigned OR service lines. Provides supply chain support for surgical services, while exemplifying the mission, vision, and values of UTMB and acts in accordance with UTMB policies and procedures. Responsible for effective and efficient distribution of surgical supplies to designated locations, inclusive of storage cabinets, support rooms, sterile areas, sterile processing, and all other appropriate areas within the Operating Room.
Job Duties:
• Daily inventory of computer information systems in assigned areas, including cycle count audits, monitoring expiring/at-risk inventory, and working through outstanding orders
• Daily restocking and returning of unused product to assigned locations.
• Receives, unpacks, and delivers supplies ordered from vendors and off-site warehouse.
• Reviews and verifies accuracy of shipments by counting and comparing packing lists with all receiving/delivery tickets for accuracy of receipt.
• Assists appropriate management personnel in the maintenance of predetermined par levels of supplies.
• Utilizes preference (procedure cards) to accurately pull inventory for cases and prepare case carts.
• Interacts with clinical staff in a cordial and professional manner.
• Must maintain environmental cleanliness and order in specific work areas
• Must be flexible with schedule and provide coverage when needed, including after hours and weekends when necessary.
• Willingly participates in quality improvement processes.
• Problem-solving with clinicians on any supply-related issues and escalates issue to supervisor if resolution is not found.
• Performs fiscal year end physical inventories.
• Provides assistance, guidance and backup for related personnel in the Supply Chain department
• Performs other related duties as assigned or required.
Knowledge/Skills/Abilities:
• Ability to effectively communicate (oral and written) with the staff, management, and customers.
• Ability to use a computer, both desktop and handheld.
• Basic math and computer skills.
• Manual dexterity and memory are critical to this function.
Preferred Qualifications:
• Previous OR inventory management experience.
• Hospital supply chain experience.
• Ability to work with minimal supervision.
Salary Range:
Actual salary commensurate with experience.
Work Schedule:
Monday through Friday 7am to 3:30pm, rotating weekends.
