GENERAL JOB DESCRIPTION
This position provides sales to customers that includes determining customer needs, providing product advice, writing and recording the sale, and pulling the products for the order. This position requires ongoing independent study of manufacturer’s products and applications to maintain current technical knowledge of all product lines.
MAJOR DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
- Be a team player and help where needed or asked by your supervisor
- Receive and greet walk-in customers and determine their needs for solutions or products with excellent customer service
- Efficient at ringing up customers with knowledge of all item classes and expert product knowledge
- Perform complex quoting including special orders
- Answer phone calls within three rings at priority level 1
- Receive telephone and email orders and prepare those orders for will-call or delivery
- Develop basic sales strategies and sales leads collaborating with the Sales Manager
- Perform inside sales calls for key customers, and follow up on large quotes and large orders
- Assist in training Sales Associate I and II
- Maintain cleanliness of sales floor and counter areas
- Janitorial duties and recycling as assigned and needed
- Perform all Warehouse Associate duties as assigned and needed
- Perform all Driver duties as assigned and needed
- Other duties as assigned and needed
ADVANCED TRAINING AND FOCUS – Minimum of two required for Level III
- Technical Service Provider – Designing, drafting, water auditing, take-offs
- Counter Development – Lead counter sales trainer
- Warehouse Expert – Proficient in all Warehouse Associate II focuses
- Management – Assistant Manager or Branch manager in training
- Revenue Growth: Counter – Advanced sales strategies in collaboration with Sales Manager
- Revenue Growth: Field – Advanced sales strategies in collaboration with Sales Manager, ability to leave the branch during normal business hours for sales purposes
Requirements
- Experience: High volume retail or wholesale sales experience required.
- Education: High School or GED
- Landscape, irrigation and utility knowledge required.
- Positive / Professional / Problem solver
- Must be able to lift up to 50 pounds.
- Valid driver’s license required with a clean driving record.
- Bilingual (English/Spanish) is a plus.
- Forklift certification is a plus.
