Surgeon - Burn examines, diagnoses, and surgically treats patients with burns from heat, cold, chemical, or electrical incidents. Performs escharectomy, skin grafting, and secondary burn surgery. Being a Surgeon - Burn reviews patient history and confirms need for surgery. Determines which instruments and method of surgery will be most successful in achieving desired outcome. Additionally, Surgeon - Burn may provide medical personnel with direction concerning patient care. May provide in-service training as needed to address new technology in health care treatment. Provides charting in compliance with all laws and regulations. Requires a MD degree from an accredited school. Typically reports to the chief of surgery. Requires a license to practice. About the practice Currently the team consists of two veterinary surgeons and three amazing registered veterinary nurses. The practice boasts state-of-the-art digital x-ray, full laparoscopic equipment including vessel sealing technology, ultrasound (including Doppler, cardiac software and echo table), complete multi parameter monitoring system (inc BP, ECG, SpO2, CO2), Orthopaedic equipment (including oscillating saw, drill, TTA kit etc), forced air warmer, In-house lab with haematology, biochemistry and urinalysis, separate kennels and cattery and much more! They aim to provide as much as possible in-house with a focus on providing opportunities for the team to see cases from start to finish. From routine neutering to the most complex of medical and surgical cases, they work closely with visiting specialists to allow for further development and case continuity.
