Surgeon - Heart Transplant examines, diagnoses, and surgically treats patients with end-stage cardiac disease. Surgically replaces a diseased or damaged heart with a healthy heart.     Type: Tribal Salary Range: $245,000 to $390,249 / Per Year Open Period: 6/24/2017 to 9/30/2017 Summary: Tuba City Regional Health Care Corporation [TCRHCC] is a 73-bed, acute and outpatient regional health system organized as a private nonprofit healthcare organization operating under the Indian Self-Determination Act P.L. 93-638 since September 30, 2002. TCRHCC serves as a large geographic area, primarily encompassing over 6,000 square miles on the western Navajo Nation and adjacent Hopi and other communities. TCRHCC also serves as a regional referral medical center for over 75,000 residents across the Navajo Nation and adjacent communities.

    RELOCATION ASSISTANCE AVAILABLE Approximately 2,600 surgical cases are performed annually, of which 1,200 are major surgeries. Assignments involve a full range of cases, including the very difficult in their specialty, with little or no technical guidance. Incumbent is responsible for recognizing difficult to identify symptoms and signs. Incumbent is responsible for developing a full treatment regimen involving knowledge of new techniques, or use of prolonged or complicated procedures. Duties: 1. Serves as a staff senior surgeon and surgical consultant. Examines, diagnoses, and treats very difficult diseases and injuries by surgical means. Performs major and very difficult surgical operations including such operations as colonoscopy and laparoscopy. When performing these operations, is in complete charge of surgery, guiding and directing the assisting medical officers, nurse anesthetist, and nurses. 2. Serves on hospital committees, participates in the quality assurance reviews and assures that policy and procedure manuals are in accordance with credentialing agencies, such as The Joint Commission [TJC]. 3. Refers patient to appropriate contracted medical or other governmental facilities, providing full clinical information for care and diagnostic procedures that cannot be adequately provided at local IHS facilities. 4. Travels to peripheral clinic[s] as scheduled to conduct surgery clinic, to screen patients for surgery, and to perform minor procedures. 5. Assures preparation of appropriate medical records for all patients seen to assure the accumulation and organization of all pertinent clinical data needed to provide comprehensive medical care. Dictates clinical reports and correspondence concerning patients under his/her care to physicians, hospitals, and other individuals and facilities. 6. Works closely with allied health professionals [i.e., Community Health Nurses, Social Workers, Health Educators, etc.] to utilize and coordinate the services of other health care professionals in the management of the patient’s medical, psychological and social problems. Qualifications: Education:
    • A Medical Degree [MD or DO]
    • Completion of a two [2] year residency program in Surgery
    • Board Certified by the American Board of Surgery License: Must possess and maintain a current and unrestricted license to practice as a physician in any state within the United States, District of Columbia or the Commonwealth of Puerto Rico.
