Being a Surgeon - Heart Transplant reviews patient history and confirms need for surgery. Determines which instruments and method of surgery will be most successful in achieving the desired outcome. Additionally, Surgeon - Heart Transplant may provide medical personnel with direction concerning patient care. May provide in-service training as needed to address new technology in health care treatment. Provides charting in compliance with all laws and regulations. Requires a MD degree from an accredited school. Typically reports to the chief of surgery. Requires a license to practice. Job Summary
The Dietitian is responsible to plan, organize and implement nutritional services to transplant candidates/transplant recipients and potential living donors/living donors, their caregivers, and staff to support and enhance the patient’s nutritional status. Responsible to assess nutritional needs and facilitate plans with patient/family for discharge and aftercare. Maintains contact with referring agencies and related people and with community resources used for referral. The Dietitian has primary responsibility for coordinating the nutritional needs of transplant candidates, recipients, and families, working with patients and their families beginning with the evaluation phase of transplantation, through the post-transplant phase of transplantation. The Dietitian provides services in a compassionate, culturally competent, and tactful manner. Works collaboratively with other members of the transplant team.
