Surgeon - Orthopedic examines, diagnoses, and surgically treats musculoskeletal diseases and injuries. Performs surgical procedures to immobilize fractures by using corrective devices such as braces, pins, casts, and splints. Being a Surgeon - Orthopedic reviews patient history and confirms need for surgery. Determines which instruments and method of surgery will be most successful in achieving desired outcome. Additionally, Surgeon - Orthopedic may provide medical personnel with direction concerning patient care. May provide in-service training as needed to address new technology in health care treatment. Provides charting in compliance with all laws and regulations. Requires a MD degree from an accredited school. Typically reports to a medical director. Requires a license to practice. Position: Physician Assistant - Inpatient / Outpatient
Shift: Full time - 40 hours a week - Monday-Friday, weekend requirement, no holidays!
Experience:
1. Two (2) years’ experience as physician assistant or Board eligible graduate preferred.
2. Demonstrated ability to work independently in an interdisciplinary environment.
Education:
1. Bachelor of Science degree or more in a physical science required.
2. Must be a graduate of an accredited physician assistant/surgical assistant program.
Licensures/Certifications:
1. Must be certified or new graduate who is eligible for certification by the NCCPA (National Commission for Certification of Physician Assistants). Active license with Pennsylvania State Board of Medical Education and Licensure's certification required.
2. ACLS certification preferred.
3. May require PALS.
4. Provider BLS (American Heart Assoc/American Red Cross) required.
5. Successful completion of the MLH credentialing process through the Medical Staff office, with temporary or permanent privileges approved.
This position requires you to wear a respirator as part of the job requirement.
