Surgeon - Plastic Reconstructive examines, diagnoses, and surgically treats patients that have abnormal structures of the body caused by congenital defects, developmental abnormalities, trauma, infection, tumors, or disease. Performs surgery to improve functions and to approximate a normal appearance. Being a Surgeon - Plastic Reconstructive reviews patient history and confirms need for surgery. Determines which instruments and method of surgery will be most successful in achieving desired outcome. Additionally, Surgeon - Plastic Reconstructive may provide medical personnel with direction concerning patient care. May provide in-service training as needed to address new technology in health care treatment. Provides charting in compliance with all laws and regulations. We are looking for a full-time Medical Assistant for a busy medical practice. This position will be based in our Wasilla clinic with weekly travel to Anchorage for clinic coverage and training as needed up to 1-2 days. Training is provided for our systems and other clinical duties.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS INCLUDE BUT ARE NOT LIMITED TO:
1. Room patients, obtain and/ or confirm patient history, review medications and reason for seeking care.
2. Inform MDs and PAs when patient is ready to be seen or obstacles to clinic flow.
3. Upload, process and track consents, orders and imaging.
4. Prepare charts in our EMR system, Elation and AdvancedMD, prior to patient visits
5. Ensure medications and allergies are correct in patient charts prior to MD or PA visit with patient
6. Follow up on patient phone calls or need for medication refills
7. Assist with ordering necessary studies (Audiogram/CT scans/Imaging/Labs)
8. Follow up on studies and pathology tp ensure completion.
9. Set up exam rooms properly for visits and procedures
10. Clean exam rooms
11. Clean medical equipment (autoclave)
12. Properly handle medical waste and sharps
13. Send specimens to pathology and properly fill out forms
14. Perform post-operative or post procedure calls and checks on surgery patients
15. Prepare new patient, cosmetic, pre-operative, postoperative and follow up visits.
16. When preparing charts, communicate with the front desk to make sure we have referral notes, studies available for review and any other needed patient information for the visit
17. Process telephone messages.
18. Provide detailed documentation of all patient interaction and next steps if applicable within 12 hours of interaction.
19. Complete chart preparation per clinic procedures
20. Follow prescription refill procedures.
21. Maintain patient records confidentially.
ADDITIONAL RESPONSIBILITIES:
1. Must be able to recognize and respond appropriately to urgent/emergent situations per protocols.
2. Maintain work area, exam rooms, supplies, medications and immunizations.
3. Perform basic triage per specific office protocol procedures.
4. Always maintain professional appearance and personal conduct.
5. Establish and maintain effective working relationships with physicians, PAs, staff and management.
6. Use professional and effective communication.
7. Effectively cope with typical job stress.
8. Document work processes as required.
9. Perform other duties as assigned.
QUALIFICATIONS:
Education/ Certification/Licensure:
· Graduate of accredited school for medical assistants or alternate training program
· National Provider BLS - American Heart Association upon hire
Payroll is currently run once a month. Health insurance stipend and paid time off available after 90 days of employment. 401K, profit-sharing and increased paid time off available after a year of employment.
