Surgeon - Trauma jobs in Brookline, MA
Surgeon - Trauma examines, diagnoses, and surgically treats critically injured patients. Performs emergency procedures including endotracheal tube intubation, tube thoracostomy, pericardiocentesis, ultrosonographic evaluation, and peritoneal lavage. Being a Surgeon - Trauma reviews patient history and confirms need for surgery. Determines which instruments and method of surgery will be most successful in achieving desired outcome. Additionally, Surgeon - Trauma may provide medical personnel with direction concerning patient care. May provide in-service training as needed to address new technology in health care treatment. Provides charting in compliance with all laws and regulations. Requires a MD degree from an accredited school. Typically reports to the chief of surgery. Requires a license to practice. Our Hospital: Boston West is an established 10,000-square foot open concept facility equipped with digital radiology, CT and ultrasound, and serves a large and busy group of referring veterinary practices. Its equipped with 2 surgical suites for orthopedic surgeries, soft tissue surgeries, minimally invasive procedures, emergency surgeries, and arthroscopic procedures.
In addition to our Emergency and Critical Care team, we also have specialists in internal medicine, surgery, physical therapy, and anesthesia. The surgery department is an orthopedic focused surgery center. This type of center is the first of its kind in Massachusetts and is a “Center of Excellence” in orthopedics providing personal, high quality orthopedic care to our patients. Specialists and emergency doctors are supported by an amazing group of technicians, client care coordinators, and leadership team.
Access and use of Arthrex arthroscopy tower, Arthrex PRP machine, multiple fracture and joint repair systems (Synthes, Stryker, Biomedtrix THR), hall air drill, Covidien LigaSure™, Hallowell ventilator, 16-slice Toshiba CT machine, and multimodal parameter monitors. Access to in-house digital radiology and abdominal ultrasound. Additional supporting technologies include IDEXX, Heska, PT/PTT equipment. We care for hospitalized patients 24/7, utilizing EzVet and Smartflow through mobile device platforms.
As part of Ethos Veterinary Health, we also have access to MRI and fluoroscopy at our in-network hospital 20 miles away. A unique feature of our hospital is an in-network compounding pharmacy and clinical pathology laboratory. Specialists also have the opportunity to work with the Clinical Trial Initiative for Ethos and have access to our comprehensive online library of veterinary journals.
