Position Summary
Th Sr. Director, Environmental & Sustainability will report to the VP, EHS and will lead all aspects of environmental and sustainability initiatives for Plug Power. This role will oversee the development of a comprehensive environmental management system that includes auditing, regulatory interface and standards development and execution.
Core Duties And Responsibilities
- Leading the environmental program and assisting the business units in implementing a consistent and standard program of sustainability across Plug Power facilities and customer sites.
- Outlining company wide and business specific sustainability goals, targets and KPIs.
- Monitoring and reporting corrective action closure, ensuring timely and sustainable solutions are implemented to prevent reoccurrence. Elevating KPIs and reviewing with senior leadership during regular operational reviews.
- Providing technical support and guidance on regulatory requirements and assist in developing solutions for complex compliance requirements and standards. Assemble competent teams to resolve challenges and reduce risk of non-compliance.
- Training leaders on environmental requirements. Instilling a culture of compliance and environmental stewardship throughout the organization and supporting a grassroots culture.
- Reviewing all current and future permit requirements and ensuring compliance to local, regional and federal standards.
- Managing a global environmental and sustainability team. Budgeting and setting goals and KPIs.
- Work directly with the executive team to determine Sustainability requirements and Dow Jones Sustainability initiatives.
Qualifications/Requirements
- Degree in Safety, Environmental or a related field from an accredited college or university
- 10 years of experience in EHS, including 5 years, leading, developing, and implementing companywide environmental programs and initiatives.
- Experience with air and water permitting.
- Ability to travel including international as needed, up to 15%
Desired Skills
- Advanced degree or certifications in Environmental Science, Safety, Industrial Hygiene or Risk Management
- Experience and Knowledge of the NEPA process
- Proven track record of leading global teams and driving organizational change.
- Demonstrated leadership experience, including successfully leading, coaching and mentoring others
- Regulatory knowledge and understanding of industry practices needed to reach compliance
- Skilled in use of data analytics and tools
- Well-developed problem-solving skills
- Strong communication skills and ability to operate at multiple organizational levels
- Experience with RMP, IH, auditing, ISO, chemical management, Title V, ISO 14001
Pay Rate
$153,200.00 - $245,100.00
