Automotive technology is changing dramatically and the impacts are being felt in nearly every system and component of the vehicle. In particular, vehicle electrification, the introduction of higher levels of autonomy and shifts in vehicle architectures are driving changes to the role and requirements of low voltage energy storage systems. It has become critical to engage with a broad set of stakeholders in the definition of vehicle systems, power distribution and functional safety for the next generation of vehicles.
Clarios is searching for a dynamic technical leader with deep experience in wide range of topics including vehicle architecture, power conversion and system integration to help guide our engagement with key customers and shape the specifications for future products.
Job Summary
This position is responsible for conceptualizing and designing low voltage energy storage system solutions that enable cost effective power supply, distribution, conversion and control.
Key Job Responsibilities:
Define the vehicle low voltage system level strategy
Define a five year forward thinking vision of next generation vehicle and low voltage system function architectures
Tracks current and future interactions of all system components and their integration into overall EE- Architecture with the focus on Low Voltage requirements (12/24/48V) including implications to power/voltage requirements, functional safety and cyber security
Analyze and identify requirements and create gap analysis
Analyze Tier 1, Tier 2 and automaker solutions and create internal reports and recommendations
Create vehicle-aligned component and system targets for function, cost, weight and investment
Lead concept development activities to generate novel product and system solutions
Elaborate system concept into hardware and software component technologies to provide robust solutions which can be implemented in mechanical, electrical hardware, and software strategies
Identify and track key system decisions that establish technology roadmaps and product architecture to enable more effective system solutions
Lead and contribute to design reviews, test plans, and requirements reviews to further optimize the vehicle electrification systems
Collaborate with stakeholders—engineering, advanced development, business development & corporate strategy
Lead and contribute to the design and building of demonstration and proof of concept products, systems and/or vehicles
Present system solutions and concepts to customers
Education/Professional Knowledge
PhD or Master’s degree in Computer Engineering / Software Engineering / Electrical Engineering / Computer Science or equivalent
10 years’ relevant experience regarding the Responsibility / Activities (listed above) for automotive software development projects (mandatory)
Expertise in automotive electronics control units
Expertise in vehicle wiring and data connections
Understanding of automotive communication protocols
Understanding of power electronics on relevant voltage levels
Understanding of Functional Safety incl. Impact on Components and architecture
Understanding of Cyber Security incl. Impact on Components and architecture
Expertise in Automotive hardware engineering process
Understanding of automotive industry standards
Open minded for emerging and advanced technologies
Demonstrated track record of strong leadership with ability to achieve results through others and influence without authority
