    Job Description

    Reporting to the Associate Director, Advancement Talent Training & Development, the Assistant Director will drive efforts to support University Advancement’s goals in the recruitment and retention of staff. The position will be responsible for ensuring that all nonexempt positions across the division are optimally staffed, as well as the tasks associated with events including, but not limited to, the UA Town Hall meetings, annual UA conference, and annual UA outing.  This includes preparing event collateral and managing the registration processes. The Assistant Director also manages the UA employee engagement activities, including Cadigan Cares, Successful Start Clothing Drive, staff and student graduation recognition, and the Christmas Wonderfund collection; and manages the employee recognition programs: Caught You Being Excellent and Shout Outs. The Assistant Director also tracks employee professional development and conference attendance.

    Essential functions include: 

    • Working with hiring managers to develop recruiting plans for non-exempt staffing 
    • Screening qualified candidates for open positions in the Advancement division using a variety of recruitment resources
    • Working with hiring managers to write or revise job and role descriptions
    • Conducting informational interviews and attending job fairs
    • Creating preliminary salary recommendations
    • Developing, implementing and managing the new hire program/checklist
    • Collaborating with UA staff to integrate new hires into systems
    • Working in partnership with the Associate Director on program development and delivery
    • Handling event support and tracking participation
    • Managing signature employee engagement programs and employee recognition programs
    • Ensuring the successful onboarding of all newly hired non-exempt staff
    • Managing UA annual outing and supporting annual UA conference
    • Tracking attendance and managing the nomination processes for professional conferences and university-sponsored programs 
    • Providing backup support for personnel transactions

    Full-Time Equivalent Hiring Range: $55,850 to $69,800; salary commensurate with relevant experience.



    Requirements

    This position requires a Bachelor’s degree and one to three years of work experience in human resources, recruiting, or talent management. Familiarity with a large, complex advancement operation in a non-profit organization is required, preferably in higher education.  

    To be successful, must exercise good judgment, maturity, and discretion in confidential matters with staff relations, as well as superior customer service to all internal and external constituents and appropriately represent the University. Ability to effectively manage multiple priorities in a dynamic, fast-paced environment while handling various clients is expected. Successful candidates should have strong knowledge of advancement business units and the positions to narrow the field of prospective candidates and make recommendations to the lead recruiters. 

    Some evening and weekend work may be necessary to attend job fairs or other events.
