    WHAT YOU'LL DO

    The copy editor ensures editorial and process excellence for the development and maintenance of Ascend Learning assessments, printed products, and online learning tools. This is accomplished by effectively collaborating with the content, media, and other teams, suggesting changes to enhance readability, conciseness, and style of online and print content targeted to students studying for professions in health care. In addition, the copy editor must develop expertise in Ascend products, their use in the marketplace, and the processes and tools used to deliver them.

    WHERE YOU’LL WORK

    This position will work a hybrid schedule from our Leawood, KS office location. Remote will be considered within the continental United States.

    HOW YOU’LL SPEND YOUR TIME

    • Review and edit copy at various stages of the production process to ensure content is free of errors, easy to read, and fits the product’s editorial style.
    • Suggest changes to enhance readability, conciseness, and style of online and print content targeted to students studying for professions in health care.
    • Implement and verify updates using a proprietary content management system.
    • Collaborate with other teams to create polished text, image, and video assets.

    WHAT YOU'LL NEED

    • Bachelor’s degree preferred. 
    • Two years’ editing experience.
    • Edit and proofread using APA and house style.
    • Demonstrate technical experience including HTML, CMS platforms, and Microsoft Office.
    • Independently troubleshoot and solve problems using available resources.
    • Execute a variety of editorial tasks with minimal supervision.
    • Communicate clearly and effectively via internal messaging, email, and working drafts.
    • Follow instructions carefully and thoroughly.
    • Plan and organize work, set priorities, and direct own activities.
    • Take accountability for projects and quality in a fast-paced environment.
