Teacher High School prepares lesson plans and instructs students in an assigned secondary school. Develops and implements grade appropriate course work, activities, and assessments to meet the academic needs of children in a grade 6-12 classroom setting. Being a Teacher High School evaluates and monitors student's performance. Assesses and documents students' progress. Additionally, Teacher High School participates in development and implementation of Individual Education Plans for specific students. Resolves classroom issues and conflicts. May participate in implementing special programs for students. May supervise teaching assistants. Requires a bachelor's degree. May require state-specific teaching license. Typically requires Basic Life Support (BLS) certification. Typically reports to a principal. The Teacher High School occasionally directed in several aspects of the work. High School Math Teacher - Umpire

  • This position is for the CRSD Umpire High School Campus (UHS). UHS is a 7-12 building with an enrollment of approximately 42 students. UHS presents a unique opportunity for students to learn in small class sizes. The ideal candidate should be certified to teach math in grades 7-12, including upper-level math courses. Candidates with a math certification for grades 7-8 will also be considered.

    QUALIFICATIONS:

    • Bachelor’s Degree in the field of education
    • An understanding of teaching and the duties of a teacher as an educational leader
    • Eligibility to hold a valid instructional certificate as issued by the Department of Education for the state of Arkansas
    • Any alternatives to the above qualifications as the Board may find acceptable and reasonable

    REPORTS TO: Principal


    ESSENTIAL DUTIES, FUNCTIONS, AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

    • Collaborate with the administration and staff to develop an efficient, effective and current curriculum that is aligned with state and federal standards and Board policies.
    • Work with administration and staff to acquire needed instructional supplies and equipment.
    • Establish a consistent classroom instructional schedule and maintain an orderly learning environment.
    • Maintain a safe learning environment in conjunction with the district's crisis management plan.
    • Maintain discipline procedures while preserving the instructional integrity and safety of the classroom.
    • Collect and maintain adequate records of student progress.
    • Evaluate test data and coordinate an action plan to improve student performance as required.
    • Establish high expectations and standards for behavior and performance.
    • Maintain communication between the school, home, and community.

    ADDITIONAL JOB FUNCTIONS:

    • Regularly monitor district email for pertinent communication and timely responses.
    • Submit all data and information as requested.
    • Attend meetings as scheduled by supervisors and district administrators.
    • Complete requested paperwork.
    • Be proficient with and have the ability to adapt to basic workplace technology
    • Prioritize safety by, among other things, ensuring that all doors and windows are appropriately locked.
    • Maintain awareness and understanding of the district's crisis management plan.
    • Model a high standard of professional excellence in the school, community, and on social media.
    • Maintain a positive attitude and a vision of growth and support for the district.
    • Perform other duties as assigned.

    PHYSICAL DEMANDS:

    • Frequent travel to school district offices and classrooms
    • Frequent walking throughout various buildings
    • Moderate lifting and carrying from 15 to 30 pounds
    • Often sitting at desk for extended periods
    • Standing for limited periods of time
    • Manual dexterity to use office equipment
    • Repetitive movement of fingers and hands for keyboarding
    • Maintain emotional control and exercise reasoning and problem-solving skills while under stress.
    • Must be able to interpret procedures and analyze data for decision-making
    • Perform all duties in a safe and responsible manner. Observe all safety precautions.

    EVALUATION CRITERIA:

    • Performance of this job will be evaluated in accordance with the provisions of the Board of Education policy on evaluation of Certified Personnel.
