At I.C. Pre-Kindergarten Teacher’s Aides provides support to their assigned Pre-K Teacher, helping to set up tasks and implement instructional processes. This job involves preparing activities for the day under the instruction of the teacher, supervising the children under their care, and ensuring the classroom stays organized. Due to their students’ young age, the Pre-Kindergarten Teacher’s Aide will take on a combination of educational and child-care duties. This role is well suited to people who are patient, have good attention to detail and have experience of working with children.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

• Assist in creating a nurturing environment that emphasizes both academic excellence and the values of the Catholic faith
• Help with the management of the classroom management (approx. 20 students)
• Aide in creating and implementing age-appropriate lesson plans and activities
• Help maintain a clean and orderly classroom
• Monitor students to ensure their safety and make sure that school and classroom policies are enforced throughout the day. This helps children learn to follow rules properly and stay safe.

QUALIFICATION REQUIREMENTS:

Pre-Kindergarten Aides have a positive and enthusiastic personality. They are also resourceful, observant and creative in finding new ways to help children learn. In addition to experience working with young children, the following attributes are required:

• Creativity – working with children requires a level of enthusiasm and fun; find ways to make daily tasks interesting and enjoyable for children to help them learn new skills
• Communication skills – this job requires communicating with people of all different ages, from parents and children to colleagues, so excellent communication skills are a must
• Patience – working with children of young ages and of different developmental backgrounds can be difficult and challenging, so patience to work with students of this age group is essential
• Attention to detail – must be observant to spot when a child is having difficulty with something or needs assistance

Pay: $16.00 per hour
