Job Description:
Reporting to the Director of Career Development, the Assistant Director provides holistic and developmental career advisement and programmatic opportunities to a designated portfolio of 850 F&M students and graduates with the goal of fostering confidence, competence and success in their career pursuits during and beyond college.
Essential Functions:
- Deliver career advisement to a robust portfolio of students from across majors and class years which helps them explore and identify potential career paths consistent with their talents, values and interests, while coaching them on the experiences, knowledge and skills they need to secure opportunities relevant to those paths. In coaching, facilitate student confidence and clarity through assessments, reflection and discernment tools while helping them network and compete for summer and post-graduate opportunities. Assist with alumni advisement and programs as capacity allows.

Design and deliver programming and resources responsive to the needs of first year through senior students at all levels of preparation and readiness in collaboration with academic and administrative departments, student organizations, and other community partners, while also helping facilitate OSPGD's hallmark career development seminars like the popular Life After College Success and ASPIRE programs.

Pursue ongoing education with regard to employment trends, industry standards, hiring practices and career coaching skills via relevant and regarded professional associations (e.g. NACE, EACE, NCDA).

Maintain records of advisement and programmatic engagement while also collaborating on metrics reflecting the impact and outcomes of the Assistant Director's efforts.

Cultivate strong relationships with internal partners (e.g. faculty, coaches, College House Deans and professional staff) and external constituents (e.g. F&M alumni, parents and career advising colleagues) in support and enhance the Assistant Director's efforts in educating and empowering each student's career development and life design.

Job Requirements:
Minimum Qualifications:
- Bachelor's Degree.

At least 2 years of experience advising, coaching, recruiting, and/or fostering career development.

Intermediate level of proficiency with Google Suite products (Gmail, Sheets, Drives, Slides, Forms).

Ability and willingness to provide excellent service and to work in a collegial manner with students, faculty and staff, and other constituencies is essential.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Master's Degree

Experience advising, coaching, recruiting, and/or fostering career development in a Higher Education setting.

Experienced in career development assessment and discernment tools, preferably Life Design, Career Coaching, MBTI and/or CliftonStrengths.
Additional Information:
