Familiar and proficient with graphic illustration and CAD software tools. Additionally, Technical Illustrator typically requires an associate degree in art, design, or equivalent. Typically reports to a manager or head of a unit/department. The Technical Illustrator independently performs a wide range of complex duties under general guidance from supervisors. Alexandria Insights is seeking a mid-level Technical Illustrator, with a strong background developing technical drawings for DoD operator and maintainer Technical Manuals (TMs) and exploded view diagrams for Repair Parts and Special Tool List (RPSTL) for Marine Corps acquisition programs to support our customer in Stafford, VA. Duties include:- Provide direct support to Assistant Product Managers – Logistics, Team Leads, Project Officers, Logistics Analysts, and Integrated Product Teams
- Develop and review technical drawings in accordance with (IAW) current versions of MIL-STD-31000B, MIL-STD-38784B, and MIL-STD-40051/1-1D
- Develop and review exploded view diagrams IAW MIL-STD-38784B and MIL-STD-40051/1-1D to ensure RPSTL illustrations are technically accurate, clearly legible, and depict all referenced parts
- Collaborate with technical writers, subject matter experts, Systems Engineers, and Logistics Analysts to develop and publish technical publications (TMs, RPSTLs, Stock Lists, Instruction Type publications, etc.)
- Participate in 30/60/90 percent peer reviews, technical manual validations/verifications, and other customer designated events to ensure technical publication quality and schedule compliance
- Travel and perform other duties as required
- Bachelor’s Degree in Illustration, Graphic Design, Mechanical Design, or equivalent, with 5 to 9 years of relevant experience; 5 additional years combination of education, professional training, or relevant work experience may be substituted in lieu of degree
- Experience with developing technical illustrations for military hardware technical manuals IAW standards such as S1000D, MIL-STD 3031, MIL-STD 40051-1, MIL-STD 40051--2, 2361, MIL-PRF 38784, MIL-HDBK 1222, etc
- Experience with technical illustration and graphic design software (AutoCAD, PTC IsoDraw, Auto‑Trol Technical Illustrator, or similar).
- Experience providing technical illustration support for XML authoring software is beneficial (PTC Arbortext, Interactive Authoring and Display Software, or similar)
- Experience with photo editing software is beneficial.
- Ability to work independently, collaboratively, and within integrated product teams in physical and virtual settings
- Proficient with MS Office, SharePoint, and TEAMS
- Exceptional interpersonal skills, “go-getter” attitude, and a passion for the Marine Corps mission.
- Strong oral and written communication, analytical, and critical thinking capabilities
- Ability to obtain a DoD SECRET clearance is required
