Technical Writing Director establishes and plans the overall policies and goals for technical writing function. Develops standard documentation methods to effectively communicate product concepts and technical information. The central role of a Writing Center Tutor is to provide academic support for students as they complete writing tasks. Our tutors play an essential role with our student success by helping students learn and understand new concepts and complete assignments.
Location of Work: May be expected to work at Stark State, North Canton and Akron locations.
Typical Hours of Work: (varies based upon availability)
The Writing Center takes appointments online and in person 7 days a week from 9am-11pm.
In person, the Writing Center is open 9am-5pm Mon-Thu and 10am-4pm on Fridays.
Scheduled shifts are dependent on employee availability

Bachelor's degree in English or a directly related field is required. Master's degree in English or directly field is preferred, although not required.
Two years of one-on-one and group tutoring experience preferred, including experience impacting education attainment among diverse student populations.

State Teachers Retirement System
The State Teachers Retirement System (STRS), was established to provide a secure retirement for Ohio's public educators. STRS is available to all faculty members. The College contributes 14% of the employees' wages for the retirement benefit and the employee contributes 14% of their wages toward the retirement benefit.
INSTRUCTIONAL FEES
All instructional and general fees for credit, audit, or non-credit courses offered at Stark State College will be paid by the College from income of the College budgeted for employee benefits up to an amount per academic semester not to exceed such fees for six credit hours per semester.
