    The Technical Director is responsible for the proper execution of Sunday services. The Technical Director will bring an intentional, comprehensive, and professional level of technical production for weekend services, online streaming, and large events. This leader will be responsible for all technical and production systems and will closely partner with the CFO and the Creative Arts Director to create high-quality, consistent, and worshipful services. This role is responsible for the equipment, process, and budget involved in production. The Technical Director will have a shepherd’s heart, the skill and knowledge of an expert, a commitment to learn while seeking to improve, and a calling to lead teams to do the same. This role requires experience and appreciation for traditional and modern worship styles.  

     RESPONSIBILITIES

    • Leadership 
      • Set an example of living a personal life of worship and prayer and being sensitive to the Spirit’s leading for production while staying rooted in the Word
      • As this is a high-responsibility, high-impact role, it is essential to proactively invest in continual personal growth, self-awareness, integrity and guard against personal vulnerabilities
      • Provide vision, leadership, and management to the Technical teams, including goal setting, project management, budget setting and management, and infrastructure development
    • Volunteer & Staff Management & Development 
      • Under the leadership of the Creative Arts Director, lead tech and production teams at the Eden Prairie (broadcast) campus, including broadcasting, lighting, and audio/visual elements
      • Provide direction, training, and support for tech/production positions at both the Edina and The Avenue campus 
      • Develop and maintain a healthy, positive, proactive mentality among Technical and Production contractors and volunteers
      • Recruit, onboard, develop, and engage volunteer leaders and technical/production contractors
    • Strategic Infrastructure Development 
      • Under the leadership of the Creative Arts Director, and in partnership with the CFO and Executive Pastor of Discipleship, decide on and implement equipment standards and processes
      • Maintain a high level of excellence in production across all campuses
      • Collaborate with the Creative Arts Director in the oversight of the Technical Arts budget, including setting a 3-5 year plan for infrastructure updates and enhancements
      • Provide project management for set design and construction if and when needed
      • Continually develop and implement new production elements and technology
    • Excellent Execution 
      • Under the leadership of the Creative Arts Director, ensure all Technical and Production teams perform at a standard of excellence in partnership with the Traditional Worship Pastor, Modern Worship Director, and Executive Pastor of Discipleship to execute the vision for each weekend service
      • Create an intentional and missional environment for all Worship Centers, online services, broadcasting, video, lighting, sound, and stage design

    QUALIFICATIONS

    • Personal:
    • Be a professing believer with evidence of a relationship with Christ
    • Subscribe to and affirm the Statement of Faith and Covenant of Wooddale Church
    • Be a regular participant in public worship at Wooddale Church
    • Become or remain a member in good standing of Wooddale Church
    • Leadership:
    • Gifted in organizational leadership and management of projects and teams
    • Effective and direct communicator
    • Flexible and adaptable, ability to troubleshoot and think out of the box
    • Technical:
    • Bachelor’s degree or technical certification in a relevant field
    • 3-5 years of direct management experience preferred
    • Professional level ability and knowledge of tech and production equipment and operation for both modern and traditional styles of worshiping, including:
      • Digital audio consoles and IEM systems
      • LED lighting and usage, including theatrical and intelligent lighting for video and DMX programming
      • Experience and knowledge of multi-venue production, including video usage and production staff for multiple locations
      • Ability to work with and lead a team in providing technical support for an SATB choir of 130 singers, a chamber choir of 24 auditioned singers, a full orchestra, and instrumental ensembles (strings and/or brass)

     RELATIONSHIPS

    • Reports to Creative Arts Director
    • Supervises Technical and Production volunteers
    • Relates to Campus Pastors, Traditional Worship Pastor, Modern Worship Director, and CFO
    • Coordinate with other members of the Wooddale Church staff

    WORK ENVIRONMENT/PHYSICAL DEMANDS

    Schedule includes working evenings, weekends, and extended hours as required by ministry and events as needed. This includes Christmas Eve, Christmas Concert, and Easter. Typical hours will be split between weekdays and weekends/evenings. Able to set up and take down production equipment, including but not limited to, cameras, tripods, lights, sandbags, etc. Able to lift 50 pounds as necessary for the production equipment.
