Summary:

The Director of the Writing Center will manage the day-to-day operations of the Writing Center and provide a strategic vision with the specific goal of assisting the undergraduate students to strengthen their academic writing. This 12-month appointment is within the Department of English and Foreign Languages in the College of Education, Humanities, and Behavioral Sciences.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

• Develop and implement a strategic plan (vision, goals, objectives, and assessment measures) for the Writing Center in conjunction with the chairperson of the Department of English and Foreign Language.
• Provide direct services to faculty and students.
• Cultivate an effective learning environment for the Writing Center.
• Train, supervise, and evaluate Writing Center student peer tutors.
• Record and analyze quantitative and qualitative data to report on Writing Center services in order to promote student success and retention.
• Chair or Co-Chair the Writing Across the Curriculum University Committee.
• Teach courses in the Composition program.
• Participate in department and College committees/activities related to the Writing Center (as assigned by Department Chair or College Dean.
• Perform other duties as assigned

Minimum Position Requirements (including years of experience, certifications, licenses, etc.):

• Ph.D. degree in Rhetoric & Composition or another rhetoric-based discipline, MA in English or MFA in Writing with a strong writing center background will be considered.
• Experience working in a writing center in a university setting
• At least three years of experience teaching writing
• Experience working with a diverse population and first-generation college students
• Experience in developing writing center materials/programs
• Ability to communicate clearly and concisely, both orally and in writing

SALARY:

The salary for each position is based on the grade/tier in which the position is placed, and the salary within the grade/tier is based on the number of years of related experience or number of years in the hiring rank.
