    Job Summary:

    As a Technology Specialist working under the direction of the Director of Technology, you will play a pivotal role in ensuring the seamless operation and advancement of the district's technological infrastructure. You will provide essential technical support to district staff and students, manage and maintain the technology infrastructure, and collaborate with the Director of Technology to implement and enforce technology policies. Additionally, you will oversee a team of technicians, coordinate tasks, and conduct training sessions to enhance the technology proficiency of district staff. This role requires technical expertise, leadership, and practical communication skills.


    Qualifications:

    Bachelor's degree in Information Technology, Computer Science, or a related field.


    Evaluation:

    This job's performance will be evaluated per provisions of the Board’s policy on the Evaluation of Staff.

    Terms of Employment:

    This is a 12-month position. This is an IMRF position—salary and benefits established by the Board of Education.


    Compensation and Benefits:

    This position's compensation and benefits package is open to negotiation with the Board of Education, ensuring competitive and fair remuneration. The minimum starting base salary for the role is $75,000.00. Additionally, we offer comprehensive benefits, including Major Medical, Dental, Vision, and Life insurance. Employees can also access Tuition Reimbursement, an Employee Assistance Plan, and Paid Leave.

    Duties and Responsibilities:

    Technical Support:

    • Provide technical support to all district staff and students for hardware, software, and network-related issues.
    • Troubleshoot and resolve technology-related problems promptly and efficiently.
    • Ensure a high level of customer service and satisfaction in resolving technical issues.

    Infrastructure Management:

    • Manage and maintain the district's technology infrastructure, including servers, networks, and other essential components.
    • Perform regular system updates, patches, and maintenance to ensure optimal functionality.
    • Collaborate with vendors and service providers to address infrastructure needs and enhancements.

    Policy Implementation:

    • Collaborate with the Director of Technology to implement and enforce technology policies across the district.
    • Stay informed about industry best practices and recommend updated technology policies as needed.
    • Ensure compliance with relevant regulations and standards.

    Team Leadership:

    • Oversee a team of technicians, providing guidance, support, and training.
    • Assign and coordinate tasks among team members to ensure efficient and effective operations.
    • Foster a collaborative and positive work environment within the technology team.

    Training Sessions:

    • Conduct training sessions for district staff on technology use, tools, and troubleshooting techniques.
    • Develop and update training materials to address evolving technology needs.
    • Provide ongoing support and resources for staff to enhance their technology proficiency.

    Additional Responsibilities:

    • Stay current on technological advancements and trends, recommending updates or enhancements to the Director of Technology.
    • Collaborate with other departments to understand their technology needs and provide solutions.
    • Assist in the planning and execution of technology-related projects.
    • Participate in developing the district's technology budget, ensuring resources are allocated effectively.
    • Maintain accurate documentation of technology systems, configurations, and procedures.

    Required Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:

    • Proven experience in providing technical support, troubleshooting, and maintaining technology infrastructure.
    • Strong knowledge of hardware, software, networking, and security principles.
    • Experience in team leadership, task coordination, and fostering a collaborative work environment.
    • Effective communication and interpersonal skills to conduct training sessions and collaborate with various stakeholders.
    • Familiarity with technology policies, compliance standards, and industry best practices.
    • Ability to stay current on technological advancements and recommend relevant updates.
    • Project management skills and experience in planning and executing technology projects.
    • Familiarity with budget development and maintenance.

    Physical Demands:

    The physical demands of this position include frequent sitting and standing for extended periods. Repetitive bending at the waist, kneeling, stooping, and crouching to assist students are also required. Regularly walk, talk, hear, operate a computer, hand-held learning devices, and other office equipment, reach with hands and arms, and occasionally lift and/or move up to 10 pounds.
