Job Description: The Technology Support Specialist is responsible for basic IT troubleshooting for the Town Hall and Board of Education central office staff. This includes but is not limited to the configuration and installation of computers and devices, and resolving issues as reported by staff; troubleshooting and maintaining copiers and printers; installing, troubleshooting, and supporting software applications; maintaining user accounts; general repair of all technology equipment; requisitioning, purchasing, and ordering duties for the Town and BOE; and scheduling of projects, services, and meetings for the department. The Technology Support Specialist will be immediately supported by the Town and BOE Technology Technicians, as well as assume other general departmental duties as assigned by the Director of Technology. Some specific duties will include but are not limited to: Installing, maintaining, managing and upgrading computers, printers/copiers, general technology equipment and related software for the Town and BOE. Perform purchasing duties for the Technology Department, including obtaining quotes, posting requisitions, placing orders, PO receiving, etc. Develop, update, and maintain documentation for infrastructure and end user technology changes as necessary. Assist in maintaining the technology hardware and software inventories for their assigned location(s). Manage Town & BOE user accounts (creating new accounts, terminating accounts, resetting passwords, setting email groups etc.) Provides assistance and training in use of hardware and software for end-users of the technology program. Assist in setting up and preparing for meetings, events, public forums, etc. Monitors the appropriate use of the district technology system(s) and promptly reports issues or concerns to the Director of Technology. Performs such other duties and responsibilities as assigned by the Director of Technology. A full job description is available in the Human Resources Department. Work Week/Pay: 25 hours per week. $32.20 per hour. Schedule to be determined by supervisor. Some night time hours may be required from time to time

Education Required: High School Diploma (minimum), college student in IT, junior college, technical school, or college graduate or equivalent level of knowledge. Demonstrated skill, experience, aptitude and interest for the work to be performed. Such alternatives to the above qualification as the Town and Board may find appropriate and acceptable.

While performing the duties of this job, the employee will have to do some lifting up to 30 pounds of computer equipment, supplies and materials from time to time. The employee is regularly required to sit or stand for extended periods of time to view & operate computer equipment. The employee frequently is required to stand, walk, sit, bend, stoop and kneel. The employee is frequently required to reach with hands and arms. Specific vision abilities required by this job include vision, distance vision, and the ability to adjust focus.
