Teller provides in-person customer service to process routine financial transactions, including deposits, withdrawals, transfers, check cashing, and loan payments. Processes requests for money orders, cashiers' and travelers' checks, and foreign currency exchanges. Being a Teller responds to customer inquiries, identifies needs, and makes referrals or cross-sells bank products and services. Prepares daily cash settlements and proof record for cash drawer and ATM following standard procedures. Additionally, Teller follows all required security procedures and policies regarding customers' personal information and money handling. Requires a high school diploma or equivalent. Typically reports to a head Teller. The Teller works under the close direction of senior personnel in the functional area. Possesses a moderate understanding of general aspects of the job.     Summary: Receives and pays out money and keeps records of money and negotiable instruments involved in financial transactions by performing the following duties.

    Essential Duties and Responsibilities: include the following. Other duties may be assigned.

    • Receives checks and cash for deposit, verifies amount, and examines checks for endorsements.
    • Cashes checks and pays out money after verification of signatures and customer balances.
    • Enters customers' transactions into computer to record transactions, and issues computer generated receipts.
    • Places holds on accounts for uncollected funds.
    • Balances currency, coin, and checks in cash drawer at end of shift and compares totaled amounts with data displayed on computer screen.
    • Accepts loan payments.

    Education and/or Experience: High school diploma or general education degree (GED); one to three years related experience and/or training.

    Mathematical Skills: Ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals.

    Reasoning Ability: Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out instructions furnished in written, oral, or diagram form. Ability to deal with problems involving several concrete variables in standardized situations.
