Teller provides in-person customer service to process routine financial transactions, including deposits, withdrawals, transfers, check cashing, and loan payments. Processes requests for money orders, cashiers' and travelers' checks, and foreign currency exchanges. Being a Teller responds to customer inquiries, identifies needs, and makes referrals or cross-sells bank products and services. Prepares daily cash settlements and proof record for cash drawer and ATM following standard procedures. Additionally, Teller follows all required security procedures and policies regarding customers' personal information and money handling. Requires a high school diploma or equivalent. Typically reports to a head Teller. The Teller works under the close direction of senior personnel in the functional area. Possesses a moderate understanding of general aspects of the job.     POSITION SUMMARY: Under limited supervision, provides management and administrative supervision of children and family services and adult protection services units.  


    DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES: The duties and responsibilities listed below are central to the job and the employee must be able to perform each function satisfactorily.     (1) Responsible for overseeing and managing child welfare and adult protection units; make decisions on behalf of the unit utilizing good judgment, problem-solving skills and the ability to weigh various factors and perspectives.  


    (2) Build a cohesive, high performing team by providing direction, guidance, and leadership to assigned unit staff. Set clear expectations, motivate employees, and foster a positive work environment. Resolve conflicts and disputes that arise within their team utilizing strong interpersonal skills and the ability to address issues in a fair and constructive manner.


    (3) Responsible for evaluating the performance of assigned staff on a regular basis. This involves setting goals, providing feedback, and addressing any performance issues that arise.


     (4) Responsible for ensuring that their team members have the necessary skills and knowledge to perform their jobs effectively. This includes ensuring staff receive relevant and required training, coaching, and mentoring as needed.


    (5) Hold regular meetings with unit staff to ensure active and consistent communication at all levels and solicit changes to improve procedures that result in efficiency, cost savings and safety.


    (6) Responsible for managing the resources available to their units, including monitoring staffing levels, interviewing, and participating in selection of employees for unit, oversee unit budgets, review and approve expenditures and monitor and negotiate annual agreements with contractors. Ensure that resources are used efficiently and effectively to meet unit goals.


    (7) Maintain continuous communication with the Director on program and/or policy issues or areas of need. Identify strengths and areas of improvement for the protection team’s leadership and staff.  


    (8) Maintain compliance of federal, state and local laws, rules and regulations pertaining to Human Services; coordinate quality control efforts to assure that program integrity is maintained; responsible for child welfare program reviews, adult services audits, compliance management, and quality assurance; prepare reports, statistics, performance improvement or corrective action plans in response to audits and program compliance issues.


    (9) As a department representative, work with community and state level groups as representative of the department to coordinate programs, develop joint projects and implement more effective and efficient services.


    (10) Attend meetings, classes and training as required; responsible for participation as agency representative to the State Child Welfare Advisory Group and other groups as assigned. 


    (11) Represent the Director on agency matters as delegated. 




    Requirements

    Knowledge of: Operational characteristics, services, activities and community partners of a Department of Human Services; casework principles, case planning and practices; federal, state and local rules and Children’s Code and regulations as they pertain to DHS; human behavior, grieving, loss, abnormal behavior, substance abuse, child abuse and domestic violence; basic budget principles; principles of supervision, training, and performance evaluation; principles and processes for providing excellent customer service, including customer needs assessment, meeting quality standards for services, and evaluation of customer satisfaction


    Skilled in: interpreting and applying applicable statutes and regulations; strong interpersonal skills and the ability to address issues in a fair and constructive manner; preparing reports and evaluations; program assessment and effectiveness; effectively managing multiple projects at once; basic computer skills; Microsoft Office products; conflict management; good judgment, problem-solving skills, and the ability to weigh various factors and perspectives; remaining calm during stressful, high emotion situations.   


    Ability to: Plan, organize, direct, and coordinate the work of assigned staff; select, supervise, train and evaluate staff; build a cohesive and high-performing team; communicate effectively in writing and verbally; establish and maintain effective and professional working relationships with co-workers, other county departments, representatives of other agencies and organizations, and the public; understand, observe, enforce and comply with all Federal, State, local and departmental policies, procedures and protocols when performing job duties. 


    (2) Experience/Education: Bachelor’s Degree in Social Work or human behavioral science; Master’s degree in Social Work or Public Administration is desirable; five (5) years of experience providing public human or social services; three (3) years supervisory experience; completion of CDHS Core Training for Caseworker and for Supervisor and any other state training preferred; knowledge of Interstate (IEP) and AFSA rules and regulations preferred; any acceptable combination of education, training and experience that provides the listed knowledge, skills and abilities may be substituted.


    (3) Visual Acuity/Hearing/Speaking: Must be able to communicate by talking and hearing in person and by telephone; ability to see and read printed materials and documents, characters on a computer screen and office machines.


    (4) Physical Effort/Dexterity: Ability to perform light physical work and to lift and carry up to 25 pounds; ability to sit for long periods of time and operate a computer keyboard, office machines and a vehicle; ability to stand, walk, sit, ride, climb, bend, grasp and reach.


    (5) Environmental Factors: Work is normally performed in an office setting. Frequent travel to community and State of Colorado meetings and trainings.


    (6) Work Schedule/Characteristics: 40 hours per week; on call as needed for emergency situations; subject to unscheduled call outs on nights, weekends and holidays.  


    (7) License/Certification Requirements: Possession of and ability to maintain a valid Colorado driver’s license.
