Engineering Technician (Intern)
Part-Time, Flexible Schedule
SUMMARY:
This part-time Engineering Technician intern position offers an excellent opportunity for hands-on experience in a cutting-edge engineering environment. Will be responsible for troubleshooting electronics, soldering, performing electrical testing, and setting up lab equipment.
DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES:
Lab Setup

Adhere to all safety protocols and guidelines while working in the lab environment. Report any safety hazards or concerns to the appropriate personnel.

Assist in setting up and configuring various lab equipment such as power supplies, signal generators, and automated test equipment.
Collaboration
-
Collaborate with the Engineering and Production Departments for product reliability and achievement of objectives and deadlines.

Keep management and engineers informed of problems, discrepancies, and feedback on possible product or process improvements that are encountered.

Maintain accurate, detailed records and documentation, of all activities performed, including: test results, data, equipment settings, and any issues encountered during testing or setup.
Testing, Troubleshooting, & Repair

Maintain and adhere to established test procedures.

Performs a variety of tests including: manual tests, automated tests, and environmental tests, from the component level to the top system level, per established test procedures or engineering direction.

Conduct electrical tests on prototypes and products using a variety of standard testing equipment such as: multimeters, oscilloscopes, function generators, etc.

With supervision, operate HALT/HASS chambers to simulate environmental conditions for product testing (temperature, vibration, pressure, etc.)

Assist engineers in troubleshooting and repair of issues with prototypes, lab equipment, and modules.

Test and repair customer boards and equipment according to established procedures, as needed.

Perform soldering tasks according to specifications provided by engineers. This includes surface-mount and through-hole soldering techniques.
QUALIFICATIONS:
-
Basic understanding of safety protocols in a lab environment.

Aptitude and experience in electronics, soldering, electrical test equipment, and electrical testing.

Aptitude or willingness to learn Electronics Lab equipment, setup, and tools.

Ability to follow detailed instructions and work independently.

Familiarity or willingness to learn IPC-A-610 Acceptability of Electronic Assemblies, or J-STD-001 “Requirements for Soldered Electrical and Electronic Assemblies”.
EDUCATION & EXPERIENCE:
-
Enrolled in or completed an Associate's Degree program or technical school certification, preferably in electronics, electrical engineering technology, electrical testing, or a related field.

Minimum 1 years experience in the test, troubleshooting and repair of digital, analog and RF circuits to the component level.

Knowledge of RF circuit theory preferred.
REQUIREMENTS:

Must be able to pass a U.S. government background check investigation.

Proof of U.S. Citizenship or US Permanent Residency is a requirement for this position.

Lifting of heavy test equipment and systems up to 30lbs individually.
-
Appropriate manual dexterity needed to work with variety of precision hand and power tools.

Vision correctable to 20-20, vision must not be impacted by Color Blindness or Color Vision Deficiency (CVD).

Demonstrable ability to read color codes of resistors, wires, and specification drawings, engineering schematics, blueprints, diagrams, and assembly drawings.
