Petersen Precision Engineering is looking for a Toolroom Technician to support toolroom related tasks defined by the department manager and lead. In this position you will support production activities as they relate to tooling from troubleshooting/preventative maintenance and production floor operations.
The ideal candidate will have some technical abilities, machine knowledge and a willingness to learn.
Responsibilities:
· Execute tooling related activities throughout the shop as directed by Toolroom Manager.
· Support in construction and repair of dies, fixtures, and all other associated parts to accommodate production requirements.
· Read blueprints, sketches, specifications, or CAD/CAM files
· Compute and verify dimensions, sizes, shapes, and tolerances of workpieces
· Set up, operate, and disassemble conventional and manual tools
· File, grind, and adjust parts so that they fit together properly
· Fit and assemble fine blank stamping dies
· Use precision measuring instruments to check accuracy of work
· Smooth and polish the surfaces of tools and dies
Requirements:
· Ability to read, write and communicate.
· Knowledge of fractions and decimals, angles and geometry as needed to calculate tool clearances, positions and size of tool features.
· Must be able to lift/push/pull up to 50lbs.
· Ability to acquire additional skills to set up and operate tool room equipment.
· Follow all safety rules and keep the work area in a clean and orderly condition.
· Works in an environment that may be uncomfortable, dusty, and loud. Is regularly exposed to moving metal/mechanical parts and is occasionally exposed to fumes, airborne particles, solvent, alcohol, and water-based coolant.
Education & Experience:
· High school diploma or equivalent with 5 years of experience in manufacturing environment.
· Certification in Tool & Die program preferred but not required.
