Tool Crib Attendant inventories, stores, and distributes hand tools and other equipment. Maintains tool functionality, calibration specifications, and safe condition by performing frequent inspections of tools and equipment for wear, defects, or damage. Being a Tool Crib Attendant keeps an inventory of tools by tracking the distribution of tools and users in a database or other system. Orders new tools and equipment or repairs tools as needed. Additionally, Tool Crib Attendant has training and experience in an industrial environment with familiarity of heavy machinery and tools. May require a high school diploma or its equivalent. Typically reports to a supervisor or manager. The Tool Crib Attendant possesses a moderate understanding of general aspects of the job. Designs, lays out and constructs tools, molds and dies by performing the following duties.
What You'll Do:ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES include the following. Other duties may be assigned.
Designs a wide variety of tools, molds, dies, jigs, fixtures and gauges where only tentative design concepts are available from engineers. Visualizes completed items to ensure ease of operation and maintenance in manufacturing setting.
Performs development work and difficult tool room machine operations.
Computes dimensions, plans layout, and determines assembly method and sequence of operations.
Constructs, alters and repairs tools, molds and dies to very close tolerances. Heat treats tools or parts.
Verifies dimensions, alignments, and clearances.
Performs skilled fitting, timing and adjusting.
Makes tool tryouts; diagnoses and corrects problems.

10 to 15 years experience in machining or model making, with increasingly complex assignments including design of tools, dies or molds
Technical school training in machining and tooling
Basic English language skills
Knowledge of trigonometry and geometry
Ability to visualize completed product
Ability to diagnose problems and develop solutions
