Reviews product design and build requirements to determine tooling concepts, design options, testing plans, and specifications. Being a Tool Design Engineer develops designs for fixtures, jigs, gauges, cutting and forming tools, carts, racks, and other items to support production. Utilizes Computer-Aided Design (CAD) to create accurate, complete, and concise design models and documentation to fabricate tools. Additionally, Tool Design Engineer estimates costs, resource requirements, and materials required for tools. May manage the sourcing, quoting, or procurement of purchased tools. ES DESIGN ENGINEER | ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:
Create and maintain remediation/environmental control equipment design packages from concepts to as-built submittals, including mechanical CAD drawings, electrical schematics, written specifications, and fabrication layouts.
Self-drive ongoing communication with the technical lead and fabrication/installation personnel on a project, to maintain the design documents.
Support the technical lead during inspections of the fabrication/installation of equipment as needed to ensure accuracy of the design package and quality.
Support sensor selection, setup, and calibration during fabrication or modification of equipment.
Support programming of control logic and data communications. This includes ongoing changes to control logic, or addition of data points to communications.
Provide technical support to personnel who operate and maintain the equipment as needed.
ES DESIGN ENGINEER | COMPETENCIES:
Self-drives communication with the project team
Strong written and verbal communication skills
Able to use AutoCAD for electrical and mechanical drawings.
Knowledge of programming either in computer environments, or IEC control equipment.
Experience with control panel and branch electrical circuits.
Experience with digital communication including serial and ethernet-based protocols.
Some mechanical aptitude is beneficial.
ES DESIGN ENGINEER | EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE:
Bachelor's degree in mechanical, electrical, or process engineering.
Master’s degree in mechanical, electrical, or process engineering, or
4 years of professional experience in OEM equipment manufacturing or industrial mechanical/electrical setting.
Programming experience (computer or IEC 61131).
Familiarity with AutoCAD software.
