Tool Design Engineering Manager manages the design and development of tools and machinery to facilitate and optimize manufacturing processes. Leads design reviews to determine tooling concepts, design options, testing plans, and specifications. Being a Tool Design Engineering Manager provides expert input to resolve design issues and innovate solutions. Oversees the design, fabrication, sourcing, and procurement of fixtures, jigs, gauges, cutting and forming tools, carts, racks, and other items to support production. Additionally, Tool Design Engineering Manager ensures design documentation and models for the fabrication of tools are accurately prepared. Controls budgets, costs, resource allocation, and materials required for tools. Typically requires a bachelor's degree or equivalent. Typically reports to a head of a unit/department. The Tool Design Engineering Manager typically manages through subordinate managers and professionals in larger groups of moderate complexity. Provides input to strategic decisions that affect the functional area of responsibility. May give input into developing the budget. To be a Tool Design Engineering Manager typically requires 3+ years of managerial experience. An opening exists for an experienced product design verification engineer with an interest in developing next generation of storage and memory controller SoC products.  This will involve taking a design from initial concept through to production. Microchip fosters continuous learning in a challenging and rewarding environment.  If this sounds like the kind of environment you'd like to participate in, we'd like to hear from you!   Your job will entail the following: Lead and mentor the team of verification engineers Participate in evaluation of new tools and flows that improve verification quality and productivity Design and verification of digital logic subsystems (100K to 10M gates) which are coded in System Verilog. Understanding requirements, protocols specifications, microarchitecture specifications Development of Test plans and reviews Architect reusable verification environments and verification components Verification of the design using state-of-the-art verification methodologies like System Verilog UVM coverage driven methodology, assertion-based methodology, formal verification etc. Interact with the cross functional teams (firmware, emulation, validation) Design, synthesis, and timing analysis Power, performance analysis and optimizations Verification coverage reviews and closure Support pre-silicon emulation bring-up and debug Support Post-silicon validation bring-up and debug, including development of workarounds. Requirements/Qualifications: Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Electrical or Computer Engineering, Computer Science or similar 15 years of experience in verification of complex designs at various levels (module, subsystem, chip) Ability to mentor team of engineers on verification expertise Experience in System Verilog based UVM, OVM, VMM, and coverage driven methodology Scripting in any language (TCL, Pearl, Python, Shell etc) Hands-on experience with FPGA, ASIC or SoC design and/or verification flows Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills Excellent knowledge of digital systems and computer architecture Excellent communication (written and verbal), and documentation skills Knowledge of Unix /Linux commands and version control system (i.e. SVN, GIT)   Preferred Qualifications: Knowledge with protocols such as PCIe, CXL, DDR, SAS, SATA, AXI, APB Experience with lab test equipment such as protocol analyzers Knowledge of Agile development process Travel Time: 0% - 25% Physical Attributes: Feeling, Hearing, Other, Seeing, Supervises Others, Talking, Works Alone, Works Around Others Physical Requirements: 80% Sitting, 10% Walking, 10% Standing, Usual Business Hours Pay Range: The expected base salary range for this position, if filled in California, is $90,000 - $232,000, dependent on specific skills and work experience.
