Tool & Die Maker

Responsibilities:

• Ability to disassemble and assemble dies and other production tooling as necessary
• Modify dies and tooling to conform to engineering changes.
• Mechanical aptitude to troubleshoot & resolve problems during production
• Tryout and qualify new dies and tooling.
• Perform after run cleaning, sharpening & repair of production tooling and dies.
• Solid knowledge of shop mathematics
• Produce quality work in a timely manner
• Work in a safe and professional manner, keep a clean work area, and wear proper protective equipment.
• Able to operate a variety of tool room equipment.
• Assure safe operation and care of tool room equipment.
• Assess tooling and equipment issues and refurbish as required.
• Be able to troubleshoot and solve tooling problems without assistance.
• Assist press operators on press floor when needed.
• Other duties may be assigned.

Requirements:

• High school diploma or GED equivalent.
• Minimum 3 years experience in the Progressive Die Stamping manufacturing field.
• Die maker apprenticeship and journeyman license a plus.
• Class A die experience a plus.
• Must be familiar with stamping dies of all types.
• Understanding of modern punch press principles and related support equipment.
• Strong understanding and ability of grinding techniques.
• Basic understanding and ability of machining techniques.
• Strong communications skills.
• Ability to read and interpret documents such as part drawings, safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals.
• Ability to write routine reports and correspondence.
• Work to continuously improve tooling and reduce scrap.
• Ability to lead continuous improvement and emergency repair projects individually or within a team.
• Attention to accuracy, detail, and due dates.
• Ability to use precise measuring equipment.
• Assist in press set up as required.
• Ability to work overtime as required.
• Observe all safety regulations.
• Possess personal tools.
• Must be able to lift up to 50 lbs. and push/pull 100 to 1000 lbs. using die carts.
• Must wear protective shoes, safety glasses, and ear protection while working around running equipment.
• AutoCAD experience a plus.
• Legal authorization to work in the United States.

Job Type: Full-time

Pay: $30.00 - $40.00 per hour
