Summary
Under the direction of the Chief Financial Officer the Controller position manages the accounting department providing information, primarily financial in nature, about all company activities that will assist management, its shareholders, and other users in making educated economic decisions about the company's future.
Essential Functions

· Oversee the activities of the accounting department to ensure the accurate and timely dissemination of financial management reports, including, but not limited to, internal and external monthly financial statements, annual audits, and annual budgets.
· Establish and maintain systems and internal controls that verify the integrity of all systems, processes, and data.
· Direct responsibility for percentage of completion contract accounting, including maintaining budgets and change orders, reporting costs, managing contract billing, and collaborating with operations personnel and senior management to determine costs to complete and estimated profit.
· Collaboration with the management team in developing and maintaining an annual budget.
· Oversight of accounts payable supervisor and indirectly responsible for the activities of accounts payable, ensuring the accurate expense coding and classification and timely processing of accounts payable, purchase orders, petty cash, and employee expense reports.
· Oversight of payroll supervisor and indirectly responsible for the activities of labor cost coding and tracking, payroll processing, periodic tax and union reporting requirements.
· Manage monthly contract billings and collection of accounts receivable.
· Monitoring of cash flow including forecasts of future cash flows.
· Oversight of fixed asset reporting and classification.
· Manage all other state and local tax reporting, including sales tax, use tax, fuel tax, and others.
· Assistance with annual audits, periodic tax compliance, and tax strategies in collaboration with an external Accounting Firm.
· Manage secretary of state, department of revenue workers' compensation, unemployment insurance, and other registrations and filings with appropriate departments within each state in which the company conducts business.
· Assistance with information technology administration and strategy including direct management of accounting software applications.
· Collaboration with the management team in building financial dashboards, metrics, and key indicators.
· Assistance with contractor prequalification document completion and submission
· Assistance with the insurance renewal process and associated information gathering.

Supervisory Responsibility
This position will have two direct reports, which include Accounts Payable Supervisor and Payroll Supervisor.
Physical Demands
The physical demands described here are representative of those that must be met by an employee to successfully perform the essential functions of this job.
This is largely a sedentary role; however, some filing is required. This would require the ability to lift files, open filing cabinets and bending or standing on a stool as necessary.
Position Type/Expected Hours of Work
This is a full-time position. Office hours are from 8:00 a.m. to 5 p.m. Evening and weekend work may be required as job duties demand.

Required Skills, Education or Experience
· Bachelor's degree in accounting.
· More than five years of accounting managerial experience
· Experience with construction companies and familiarity with percentage of completion accounting.
