    The Information Services Support Division of the Alaska Court System (ACS) invites applications for a Network System Administrator (range 22).

    This position is responsible for management and technical support of the Court's network, servers, and services.

    Regular job responsibilities include the following:
     

    • Install, maintain, and enhance local area networks; provide system administration functions to enable user access to resources such as messaging, enterprise applications, and the internet using approved procedures and programs such as VMWare ESXi, MS Windows Server, and MS Windows Operating Systems.
    • Perform periodic planned system administration functions and maintenance to ensure uninterrupted use of the Court's computerized systems; resolve data network related problems using testing software and equipment to determine problem origin.
    • Install, maintain, and enhance security-related systems such as virus detection, host and network-based intrusion systems and other standard systems; perform periodic and as-needed security breach detection procedures; set up and maintain user accounts to control access to authorized services, electronic messaging accounts, and database applications.
    • Install, maintain, and enhance connections to the State of Alaska and ACS networks using approved departmental and State of Alaska standards, procedures, and hardware such as Cisco routers, Meraki security appliances, Intel-based computers, and switches.
    • Provide technical support for authorized users of Court and Enterprise systems to include network connectivity, remote access, electronic messaging, office productivity systems, and other automated computerized systems.
    • Analyze the needs and design of new and existing local area networks to meet the needs of the Court's locations.
    • Coordinate with other State of Alaska agencies such as DOA-OIT and communication service vendors; may participate in the specification and recommendation of bid awards to vendors for the installation of LAN/WAN cabling, hardware and software; provide specification and recommendation of installation of commercial power and UPS circuits to support LAN and WAN connectivity.
    • May travel to remote sites to install, enhance, maintain or repair authorized computer networks, systems, and software.
    • May act as the Court's liaison and representative to statewide groups and committees involved in information technologies.

    1. Effective problem solving, multi-tasking, and critical thinking skills.
    2. Experience and ability to deal with high-priority, confidential, or sensitive information.
    3. Ability to work calmly, effectively, and accurately under frequent deadlines and changing priorities and stay focused on numerous details.
    4. Four years of active directory experience within the last (5) years.
    5. At least one year of VMware experience (Version 7 or higher).
    6. At least one year of Citrix Applications and Desktops experience.
    7. At least one year of Citrix ADC experience.
    8. At least one year of Cisco Meraki or similar infrastructure experience.
    9. At least one year of Palo Alto or similar web security software experience.
    10. At least one year of experience as primary administrator for a Microsoft Exchange installation (Version 2019 or higher).
    11. At least one year of experience configuring Cisco routers, switches, and Palo Alto firewalls.

    The Work Environment
    The Information Services Support Division is located in the Snowden Administration Building. Located in downtown Anchorage, you will have access to restaurants and parks to enjoy on your lunch break. Employees receive a parking permit exclusively for the Snowden lot.

    The Work Hours
    Full-time court employees are currently scheduled to work 37.5 hours per week.  The work hours for this position are Monday – Friday, 8:00 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. with a one-hour lunch break.

    Minimum Qualifications

    Five years of professional work experience in computer system administration, electronic engineering, computer networking, and data communication; two years of which MUST include experience in administering and designing network resources and services within a wide-area network environment. 

    OR

    A bachelor's degree from an accredited college in Information Technology, Computer Science, or a closely related field AND two years of professional work experience in computer system administration, electronic engineering, computer networking, and data communication.

    OR

    A Microsoft Certified Systems Engineer (MCSE) certificate or relevant certification AND four years of professional work experience in computer system administration, electronic engineering, computer networking, and data communication.
