    Reports to: Executive Director

    Purpose

    To manage all communication/public relation strategies and plans both internally and externally.

    General

    In addition to the performance standards later outlined in this document, all employees are expected to conform to the following:

    • Perform quality work within deadlines with or without direct supervision.
    • Interact professionally with other employees, customers, and suppliers.
    • Work effectively as a team contributor on all assignments.
    • Work independently while understanding the necessity for communicating and coordinating work efforts with other employees and organizations.
    • Perform all other duties as assigned.

    Performance Responsibilities

    • Develop and implement annual marketing plan.
    • Create and identify opportunities to support the Foodbank’s communications needs.
    • Build and nurture relationships with press, donors, and other identified individuals or organizations.
    • Ensure that a newsletter and annual report is developed and regularly published.
    • Ensure that the Foodbank’s Website is developed and maintained; oversee maintenance and continuous enhancement of Website and other social media activities.
    • Works collaboratively across all departments to ensure greatest level of success.
    • Serve as back-up spokesperson to the Executive Director.
    • Speak to local civic organizations; represent the Foodbank to the general public; speak to community groups and media regarding efforts.
    • Stay informed about Feeding America programs, including programs run by the Foodbank.
    • Direct public relations activities, including the writing, editing, and clearance of statements, news releases, etc.
    • Work closely with other staff members to achieve operational (food resourcing and distribution), financial and overall Foodbank goals.

    Qualifications

    • Education:
    • Bachelor’s degree or equivalent work experience in communications, public relations, marketing, or related field.
    • Experience:
    • Minimum of two years experience in a communications setting with project management responsibilities.
    • Job Knowledge:
    • Ability to manage multiple projects well, communicate and attend to customer needs, work independently, think creatively, solve problems, work under deadline pressure, and form and maintain business relationships and contracts. Strong organizational and planning skills required.
    • Knowledge of In Design or willingness to become proficient.

    Special Position Requirements and Preferences

    • Ability to travel throughout twenty-one county region, have own means of transportation, and possess a valid Illinois driver’s license.

    Job Type: Full-time

    Pay: $42,000.00 - $50,000.00 per year
