The Home Health Administrator is responsible for the general management and fiscal operations of the licensed Medicare Certified Home Health Agency. The Administrator is responsible for implementing and administering the agencies’ plan, budget, goals, and policies, as well as, directing and delegating the management of professional and ancillary services while assuring compliance with the federal, state, and local laws. The Home Health Administrator is accountable for agency performance through the supervision of the overall operations of the Agency.
Essential Responsibilities:
- Responsible for planning, organizing, directing, and evaluating branch operations to ensure the provision of adequate and appropriate care and services
- Coordinates and supervises business development activities to achieve agency service goals
- Complies with applicable laws and regulations of operations and ensures staff adherence to policies and procedures
- Responsible for fiscal planning, budgeting, and accounting system management
- Partners with Human Resources on staffing, recruiting, onboarding, directing, training, and retaining qualified employees
- Establishing and maintaining effective channels of communication with referral sources, patients, and other customers.
- Establishes and grows relationships between employees, community agencies, preferred provider networks, retirement communities, etc.
- Ensuring employees complete required compliance training and strive for best practices
- Partners with the Risk and Quality Manager to direct and monitor service quality, performance improvement activities, and participate in continuous Quality Assurance Program Improvement (QAPI).
- Ensuring staff development via activities including orientation, in-service education, continuing education, competency evaluation, and quarterly touchpoint discussions of performance
- Provides assurance of appropriate employee supervision during all operating hours, including adequate on-call services
- Partners with Marketing and Communications, to provide marketing information materials and activities
- Appoints a similarly qualified alternate to be available at all times during operating hours in the absence of the Administrator
- Maintaining positive relationships and rapport with co-workers, associates, patients, and their family members
- Willing to work varying hours, including weekends, nights, and holidays to meet the supervisory needs of the branch
- Adhering to established confidentiality standards as required by Alivia Care and HIPAA concerning community and patient information
- Monitoring and evaluating the agency’s performance, services, and programs; following local and national trends and issues; and developing fiscal, marketing, and strategic plans with measurable goals and objectives
- Monitoring service utilization to ensure delivery of comprehensive service
- Ensuring that home health care services whether provided directed or under contract are authorized and, if skilled, physician-ordered and provided as ordered
- Promote personnel and patient safety and provide a safe workplace with adequate support personnel, space, supplies, home health care library materials, well-maintained equipment, and other resources, as needed
- Promoting agency excellence and high ethical standards by providing current patient information and standards of practice through orientation, in-service, continuing education, and overseeing the ethics committee activities
- Assuring timely, accurate billing and collection and accounting practices including the collection of financial information and statistics required for the completion of the Medicare Cost Report
- Presenting a professional appearance and promoting a positive work environment
- Education/Training/Certifications:
- Bachelor’s degree in Business Administration, Health Care Administration, or related field, required
- Clinically Licensed professional (i.e., RN), preferred
Experience:
- 2 years experience as a Home Health Administrator, preferred
- Home Health experience, required
Skills and Knowledge:
- Level II AHCA Background check
- CPR and/or BLS certificate
Experience working with Medicare Certified Home Health agencies and working with CMS and AHCA requirements
